Parody Song Title:

"(Are You Going To) Watch Happy Days"

Parody Written by:

Porfle Popnecker

The Lyrics

Are you going to watch Happy Days
Richie, Ralph Malph, Potsie, and Fonz
Remember through nostalgia's haze
It seemed almost bearable once

On "Love, American Style" it premiered
(In a segment called "Love and the Happy Days" seen)
Richie, Ralph Malph, Potsie, and Fonz
(Testing the pilot the ratings to gauge)
A homespun scene, it seemed to work
(High school and first dates and life in the 50s)
It shall be a series in prime
(ABC lineup to join in the fall)

Viewers did find it a show they could stand
(On an average night's bill a sprinkling of laughs)
Richie, Ralph Malph, Potsie, and Fonz
(Something to watch between a few beers)
The Cunninghams and their zany young friends
(A group of nerds have adolescent fun)
Weren't the worst thing on at the time

Then Fonzie's windbreaker morphed into leather
(He bellows "Ayyy" with increased exclamation)
Richie, Joanie, Chachi, and Al
(Soon Anson Williams is singing at will)
And then over time, the show took a header
(And before a live audience, acting was rotten)
It was all-Fonz, all of the time

Are you going to watch Happy Days
Richie, Ralph Malph, Potsie, and Fonz
Remember then, its pre-sucking phase
Long before the show jumped the shark

Wasn't this the show that coined the phrase "jumping the shark"? Or was it that Evel Knievel masterpiece?
Porfle Popnecker - December 27, 2011 - Report this comment
Yep, it was the Fonz himself who made the now infamous shark jump.

Thanks! I liked it before it was filmed in front of a live audience and became "The Fonzie Show."

I wasn't born until AFTER the Happy Days prime, but I still enjoyed and appreciated the parody (and I love the OS to which this is written). 5/5/5!

Thanks! You can probably still catch the older episodes on DVD or reruns.

Show happened a bit before my time, but enjoyed this and found it well-paced. Porf, have you ever seen the Family Guy episode where Peter makes the 'Church of the Fonz'? "Everyone please rise... Now Sit On It"

Appreciate the comment! I never watched "Family Guy" but that sounds like a funny gag.
