In placid thought you sat with friends,
Spacious lawns with grass to tend.
'Bove the middle of a lawn's rye,
You held your zipper from the hot and dry.
When your ears were jabbed by the glow of a solar ray
That joined the day,
And stabbed the hush of loudness.

And in the full-dressed dark you guessed
About two beasties, maybe less.
Beasties miming without singing.
Beasties seeing without talking.
Beasties printing prose that eyeballs often hoard,
And all ignored,
Let lie the hush of loudness.

Geeks, said you, I like to think
Loudness like a stem cell shrinks.
See your thoughts that you might peeve me.
Give your legs that you might leave me.
But your thoughts like noisy snowflakes rose
With silence
On the hulks of loudness.

And the beasties rose and cursed
From the solar Satan's perch.
And the light glowed out its hushing
In the thoughts that it was crushing.
And the light said, the thoughts of the clueless
Are printed on the skyway floors
And palacial doors,
And shouted with the hush of loudness.
