The Lyrics

Disturbed recently covered this song and I just couldn't get it out of my head. A dark and powerful version. If you haven't heard it, look it up. So i'm sitting there and thing about the song and I look at my dog, Charlie. Short legged Poodle looking thing and an absolute goofball. Look at him for a few seconds and the first two verses come right out. Wrote the whole thing in about 15 minutes. Did some editing here and there later and there you go.
Charlie’s Song. (Played to the music of Simon Garfunklel’s “The Sound of Silence”)

Hello Charlie my old friend.
It's good to play with u again.
Because your joy is soft-ly creeping.
You left a turd, while I wa-as sleeping.
And the joy, that was planted in my brain, still remains... Within the dog, named Charlie.

Thru restless games you chewed your bones.
It the back yard u played alone.
Neath the halo of the back porch light.
You lift ur leg and pee'd in-en the night.
But ur eyes, were stabbed by the light of a neon ball, that hit the wall, ending the sound, of silence.

And in the back yard light U saw, 10'000 squirrels maybe more.
And all the birds & squirrels & we-er dancing
With your short legs you we-er chasing
And the treats... that no dog, ever shares
and no one dares, disturb the dog, named Charlie.

"Fools", said I "u do not know." The Joy Thru Charlie always grows.
Hear his bark and he mi-ght teach you.
See his hart and he mi-ght reach u.
And his turds, like silent toy dolls fall...
Echoed, in the dog, named Charlie.

And then Charlie bowed and played, with a rag doll game he made.
And then Charlie gave hi-is warning.
In the turd, that he wa-as forming.
And the turd was dropped in the middle of the bedroom halls, got some on the walls.
Whispered, in the dog, that's Charlie....

Speaking of feces, I've used this song to cover that material as well ....... Hello, feces my old friend; I've come to daub with you again .. With a medium that I was pinching; made Nazi crosses without flinching ... And a movement that was started in my bowels; still befouls
