The Lyrics

Here's another head-on collision between one song's lyrics and
another one's music. This time, I took the lyrics of Donna Summer's
disco classic, "Hot Stuff" and attempt to shoehorn it into Simon &
Garfunkel's "Sound of Silence." The results are not for the faint of
heart.
I'm waiting for my lover's call,
I've rung the phone right off the wall
I'm eating my heart out looking for the rhymes,
Because lately I've dialed a thousand times,
And the vision of some hot loving tonight
Sounds all right
I gotta have some hot stuff.

I'm restless for a lover who
Is looking for another too
'cause I don't want another night alone
I wanna bring a wild man home
Gonna have hot stuff, yes I want hot stuff tonight
Hot delight
And touch a babe who's hot stuff.

And we'll get naked, I hope so
Ten thousand people will not know
Let our bodies talk without speaking
Need some lovin' tonight, you listening?
How's about some hot stuff, this evening that we'll share
If we dare
To get real hot with hot stuff.

"Fools" said I, "let's not get cold
I'm hot, you're hot now; babe let's go
I'll have your hot love this evening
I need your lovin baby this evening"
But my words like silent as raindrops fell,
I'm worried
I won't get hot stuff

But my babe was not quite sure
Hesitation, heat not pure
My gut it sent out a warning
This night no good was forming
And I sighed, then looked for another
Left my number on the subway wall
"For a good time, call..."
But now I need a cold shower.

Pacing a little off, Mason, but high scores for sheer ambition! 455

Clever combination.

Who would have thought these two songs could possibly go together? (Ok, well obviously Mason did.) But I think the result was hilarious.

Yeah, pacing was a bit off syllable-wise, but this was great!

Kristof, Lee Yo Jaz-Z: Yeah, this was a real challenge, getting the pacing right. Johnny D: Moosh-Master, eh? Ashkickass: Of course these two songs have no business being in the same room together, and therein lies the humor, IMHO. More experiments to come soon...

Reminded me of a "one song to the tune of another" round from I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue. That always makes me laugh, too :-)
