The Lyrics

Tommy drove a Plymouth, Jimmy had a Dodge
Harvey parked a GTO out in his Dad's garage
Jerry drove a pickup truck that kept Charlotte awake
And Paul had no insurance on his Chrysler Estate..

Helen's little Pinto struggled on each hill
Janet's station wagon carried her friend, Jill,
Bob drove to the city in that Olds that lurched
And Sundays I'd peel out by the Presbyterian church
At my Chevy, 57, preacher'd scream..

My Chevy, 57, was a dream..

All my friends thought they had the wheels to leave me in the weeds
But, always, mine would prove it had the power and the speeds
My Chevy, 57 blew hot steam..
(That Chevy, 57 was the cream)..

One day, by Bill's trailer park, near the thoroughfare,
Randy revved his Mercury up, I left him clear back, there
Charlie tried his Thunderbird, for his future wife
Freddie thought he drove hot stuff, but folded like a knife

John yelled out, let's battle, Ray came with his "vette"
Like Mavis they would wound up, just smellin' smoke, you bet
Linda held the money, handed it to me,
Cuz' my Chevy, 57 made 'em all just history..

Man, my Chevy, 57 had the steam
It could win out every drag race, no matter how they'd scheme
It was black and shiny, and I was just eighteen
When my Chevy, 57 was the cream
Yeah, my Chevy, 57 beat 'em clean..

I'm a Chevy man myself so 555!!! My dad, however, was into AMC back when and even worked for them in his youth. AFW, can you write a parody using the '76 Corvette Stingray? http://imagehost.vendio.com/preview/da/danschmitt/404905-5.jpg

A future brother-in-law owned a black coupe that hit 60 mph in low gear!
Your parody brought back many memories. Anyone who smirks at your double preposition "out in" (line 2) never lived near a detached garage.

Thanks, Rob, and Barry..guess I'm telegraphing more than I realize.

My favorite muscle cars include the AMC Javelon AMX, Plymouth Roadrunner Superbird, Corvette Stingray, and '68 Camaro. They never made the Camaro III concept, but it still looks futuristic today!!! Looks like an stretched Camaro/Corvette hybrid with wedge-shaped front featuring Dragon Nose inlets, a full-blown aerodynamic canopy that extends all the way to the rear, a short chopped rear with no evidence of a truck, and snowflake alloy rims. The 4 discs for the wheels are huge! For foreign, I favor the Jaguar D-Type.

Good work, I've had numerous cars that were either given to me or bought cheap in succession when something went wrong, I have to say that my favorite was a '79 Chevy Impala station wagon that cost $100, was completely trashed inside and out, but was completely reliable until it threw a rod a thousand miles from nowhere in the snow. It WAS nice, however, dozing in the back with the snow falling outside the car and listening to Enya on my then-new iPod as I waited for a tow truck. 5s!
