The Lyrics

The sexual-roles dynamic in Laurel and Hardy films is hard to pin down. Hardy is generally dominant, Laurel submissive. But periodically the thin man of the couple takes the upper hand with his portly pal. Although they are sometimes married, their wives are invariably dominant, they submissive. More often they play gay (in the former sense of “happy, carefree”) bachelors. However, both get tongue-tied and flustered around women, Hardy becoming quite effeminate in manner as he fiddles with his tie and his baritone rises in register. Sometimes they sleep in the same bed. “Woman” derives from the Old English wifman (wif [female] + man [human being, but for the purposes of this parody. . .]).
Sometimes it’s Hardy who’s the woman,
But most often it’s he plays the man.
He’ll have lad times, he’ll have girl times.
Doing things that we can’t understand.

Once Stan he’s shovin’; then he’s lovin’,
But sometimes Stan has the man’s hand.
And both get flustered
If chicks gets clustered. . .
“Aw, shucks!” Ollie, stammerin’ Stan.

Stan’s bi, wifman:
The female side he brings to
Flicks, but he can become the dude,
He’s not feminine only.
Stan’s guy, woMAN.

Stan’s bi, wifman;
When he gets bold, he’s shovin’;
He takes the role of upper hand.
Stan tries on “man.”

It might have been tricky to interpret without the intro; but, with the intro, this becomes a very clever wordplay.
