The Lyrics

There is a home in America
That's housed some favored sons
And most of them have led us very well
From the house that's in Washington

There was a time when the White House
Became the Bill Motel
He rented out ole Abe's bedroom
We all remember well

Seems the only thing Bill didn't do
Was bring in slot machines
But I wouldn't put it past him, no
They could've gone unseen

He had one hand on his cigar
The other, we won't say
But the day he left the White House
Well that was a good day

Now mothers tell your children
To see what George Bush has done
He's led us all with grace and dignity
From the house that's in Washington

There is a home in America
That's housed some favored sons
And most of them have led us very well
From the house that's in Washington

I enjoy looking past the politics of a parody and appreciating its artfulness and wit - good job on this one, Royce, 5's all around.

Where to begin... "Renting out the Lincoln Bedroom," which, by the way, ABE NEVER SLEPT IN!, has been going on at least as far back as Nixon, and probably at least as far back as Harding, and that includes some pretty esteemed Democrats, so don't pretend it was an only-Clinton-coulda-done-such-a-thing thing. Slot machines? Clinton didn't gamble nearly as much as the bum who came after him. The only good thing about the day he left the White House was that he was free from persecution from the vast right-wing conspiracy, at least in an official capacity. Well, I also got my bike fixed that day. It kept me from watching TV and getting sick to my stomach that the coup had become official. Bush wouldn't know grace and dignity if they bit him on the ass, but they'll have to get in line behind the economy, civil liberties and Iraq, which keep biting him there over and over again. As for the song, it's good, if you don't take it as truth.

Michael P--Can you name the presidents who have rented out the "Lincoln Bedroom" for cash contributions, besides Bill Clinton?

I think JD's comments summed it up nicely, Royce!
