The Lyrics

(Yes, I'm back now...)
(Yes, I'm back now...)
Back as a writer...
...not as a fighter...
(not as a fighter)

I read this piece
just the other night
poster was a "newbie"
who came from the Right
The words were strident
measured to incite
as my face turned red
and I felt my jaw
getting tighter...
my knuckles whiter

Yes, I was quite miffed
when I walked that day
but I knew inside
I couldn't stay away
The words within me
they desire to roam
I must let them loose
or they'll keep me up
the whole night, sir...
they still inspire

(I've come back now...)
(back now...)
Not as a fighter...
nor a backbiter...
(not my desire...)

(Instrumental break)

Yes, her words enraged me
I threw back a few
soon it was quite clear
I could not get thru
Her mind is made up
it cannot be changed
here I'll watch my words
'cause right now I don't
want to slight her...
ignite her ire

Yes, I did consider
leaving "Amiright"
But the sad truth is
that I have to write
those jillion words that
float around my brain
must be exercised
with a purpose
or they'll expire...
use is required...

So I'm back now..
laid back now...wow
back as a writer

{the following lines go out to the Fade}

stay relaxed now
makes me feel lighter

rather laugh loud
and be polite-er

makes my mood foul
I get too hyper

let the bear growl
do not incite, sir

leave behind strife
there's more to life, sure

{Fade}

You're back as a writer, not a fighter? Rather than call you a wimp, I'll just say, "Why limit yourself?"
Paul Robinson - September 26, 2005 - Report this comment
Adagio, Thanks! Linda..."she"? Could be...uh...'fictional character'...or not...lol...Michael...not saying I won't or wouldn't...just saying that's not the main reason I write...or post...I can't and won't speak for anyone else, but the constant bickering with people who aren't going to change their minds anyway is pretty much a waste of time and energy. I have a little extra of each of those for the most part, but I would choose to use them in ways that entertain or enlighten rather than beating my head against a wall. But everyone gets to make those decisions on their own here, don't they? Hey, why even mention the "w" word in your comment, MP? I'll pick my causes...you can pick yours...

Very good. Hey, don't let those right-wing fanatics get to you. They really are a minority in America - even their own party is about to disown them. It's nuts like these who have no problem bombing clinics and killing doctors who uphold a woman's choice in America. They're not patriotic, they're domonic. I think they go surfing the Internet just to spread lies and hate. Don't give into doomsdayers.
Paul Robinson - September 26, 2005 - Report this comment
Thanks, Robert...it's OK...I just don't want to spend all my time arguing with them...better things to do, ya' know...when I think it's appropriate and I have something to say, yes, I will be saying it...
Linda - September 27, 2005 - Report this comment
I think it must be a fictional character - or maybe... not! Maybe it was a real person who sometimes gets are riled up, as do those who disagree with her! Passionate emotions over what one believes can be a good thing... but taking it to higher heights may be just a helpless outlet for someone who wants to make a difference and maybe just be heard some way... because maybe there is in some way a looming sense or feeling that feels so very defeated at times by those she thinks are so terribly misguided to the point of almost going loony, she feels compelled to act in some way, small or big, just some way. ---- But, maybe not... I do not know, I am not a shrink (but I will keep an eye out for her for you, you can be sure of that!)

Thank you for the thoughtful comment, Linda...I do understand the urge to lash out in frustration...it's an urge best resisted in just about every circumstance. Taking a step back for a moment, considering where the other party might be coming from, looking to see if you can find any truth or reason in what they say...and then making a measured, proportional response...which, by the way, is not particularly easy to do when the other party is constantly flinging out wild charges and accusations in an unfocused, scattershot manner. Other people have passionate beliefs (and tempers), too. One's "True Belief" does not necessarily equate to "The Truth"...it is merely what that persons perceives as being true...At then end of the day I do believe that reasoned and rational discourse is the only way out of our current state of acrimonious rancor and disunity...
