The Lyrics

Another in my series of "Crosby Cooks", a hypothetical look at what it might have been like if David Crosby had done the cooking for the group "Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young" way back in those furry, freaky late 60's/early 70's. I did the entire CSNY 2nd album, "Déjà vu" to that story-line and I have now written about 10 similarly themed pieces to Buffalo Springfield songs (1/2 of CSNY were from that group, Stephen Stills & Neil Young).
[instrumental intro]

Boy, I'm hungry, sure smells good
Crosby baked a pie
Blackbirds, yum, sure good to eat
Beware, they're alive!
And they bite
OW!

When Dave Crosby
cooks your food
Be on your guard, dude
Damn live birds
they bit my thumb
Now it's black and blue
That's screwed!
OWWW!

So if you are wise
You won't eat Crosby's pies
Yes, that is my advice
Just get stoned!

Though he's a real cool guy
He gets this look in his eyes
Then what he serves you is vile
His food's gross!
He burns toast!
Bad Pot Roast!
Should dispose

[instrumental break]

What he bakes
don't eat, dude
Leave those pies
alone

[long instrumental jam]
[to final lyrics, sung to a slowed-down pace with prominent banjo part]

Do not eat his "Live Bird" pies
'cause you might get bit
Don't be fooled by Crosby's smile
that's no sh*tmight get bit

[banjo and other instrumentals out to end fade]

Thanks, alvin - are you sure you don't want some of that pie now?

that idea (which I haven't heard before) is so mad, it's hilarious, Paul - now I want to read some others - 555 (can Crosby cook Japanese?)

Thanks, Stuart. As far as the others, as I mentioned in the top comments here, I did the entire "Deja Vu" album with this concept. I submitted a parody that had links to all of those songs, although the links for songs #2 & #3 don't work. I'm really clueless and bad at making links work and too lazy and/or preoccupied with other stuff to sit down and take the time to learn it. But I'm going to try and post that link here now. We'll see if it might work
