Original Song Title:

"Light My Fire"

Original Performer:

The Doors

Parody Song Title:

"Lightweight Miers"

Parody Written by:

Violet T. Riol

The Lyrics

She looks a little like a shrew
She's fanned the right's and the left's ire
'Bout her no one has a clue
Yet Bush wants her for a court that's higher

So he gave us lightweight Miers
So he gave us lightweight Miers
For Sandy who soon retires

A sop to neither side Bush threw
He expects all to swallow Miers
No one knows about her views
Because she's just a Bush friend cipher

Yeah he gave us lightweight Miers
Yeah he gave us lightweight Miers
For Sandy who soon retires

The time to speculate is due
On Harriet "Reticent" Miers
Each side's hoping that she'll lose
Even Kristol's cryin' "Crony. Why 'er"?

Dubya gave us lightweight Miers
Dubya gave us lightweight Miers
For Sandy who soon retires

We know nothing about her views
Her IQ than Dubya's is higher
But so is that of a goose
A goose in polls would be more admired

Come on Dubya, lightweight Miers?
Come on Dubya, lightweight Miers?
Try once to set your sights higher
Try once to set your sights higher
Try once to set your sights higher
Try once to set your sights higher

Hear ye, hear ye: In the opinion of this court, Violet is guilty of the charge of making sense and laughter, and is sentenced to a lifetime of community service by writing more great parodies like this!

Nice job, Vi. Just discussed Miers with a friend at lunch today. He's convinced that Miers is a total stealth nomination - the right is just pretending not to like her so that the left will say, oh, well, she must be OK then - when, in actuality, she's 100% in Bush's (er, Rove's) pocket.
