The Lyrics

A faded love is Tom and Katie's
Now at loss, their child, Miss Suri
And I'm sure that she's been cryin'
Sad-ly..

No more, a fam-i-ly
At loss, the sweet, Miss Suri
Not like they used to be,
At loss, the small Miss Suri

For five short years
They lived together
For five good years,
Out in the valley...
Now they part,
And they must share...custody..

No more a fam-i-ly
Pity the child, Miss Suri
So sad it has to be
God bless wide-eyed, Miss Suri

Her daddy's gone
Her heart is breakin'
Just weekends,
She can be with him, Sur-i

A doll, a doll is she
And so prett-y
At loss, the young Miss Suri
Divorce so sad to see
Sometimes, must be
God bless the child Miss Suri...

At loss, the child, Miss Suri..

Interesting sub of title. This is a variation of 'Shenandoah', is it not? There's also 'The River is Wide', based on Irish evergreen 'Carrickfergus' - confusing.

I guess little Suri is one of many such these days. At least like some she doesn't have to worry about an elite education, let alone where her next meal is coming from. I hope Tom keeps his religious beliefs away from her until she's old enough to deal with it. But I survived Church and Sunday school with my rationality intact, so I'm sure she can, too.
