Why, thank you, alvin...had a lot of fun writing this one...and THEN...I listened to the OS to make sure it worked with the actual song and realized how much funnier it is when you factor in Cass Elliot's vocal styling - the way she draws out the first two lines...and then the group joins in and the increases slightly through the first verse...and then the pace accelerates and all the "doo, doo, doo-doo-doo's" come in...so I had to record an overlay version of my parody...and I was totally LOL listening to it in my car later on yesterday afternoon. Kristof - that appears to be a "Condi-cending" remark...but it seems quite appropriate, all things considered. Glad you folks enjoyed it ~ ~ ~

Michael, actually I was not...I never heard them do it, but I was familiar with the Mama's and Papa's version...the Website I pulled the OS lyrics to said "Phillips" on the page...I assumed that meant John Phillips of the Mama's/Papa's wrote it...do you have information to the contrary on this? It doesn't matter as far as my parody presentation because you can choose which version you want to pace it to, and happen to like the way the Mama's and Papa's did it quite a bit...Thanks for the note, though...OH...I have a Beatles parody that I'm submitting tonight...ought to be up tomorrow morning...

Yes, it appears I was in error in inserting those apostrophes into the group name...I hate to sound like a crotchety old man here, but I found the tone of your criticism rather overblown and somewhat undeserved. Perhaps if I had specifically targeted someone or some group here that level of reprimand might be warranted. Yes, I did commit an error based on my own less-than-clear understanding of the use and function of apostrophes... rest assured I will endeavor to apply the correct convention in the future. Thank you for pointing that out, it is an area where I could certainly stand some improvement....... I'll get to that right after I deal with "run-on sentences". So I plead guilty...mea culpa......Now, since we are in the "please" mode as to corrective actions, why don't you "please" try to place your criticism in a tone and level appropriate to the action or deed...you could have pointed out the error in a more constructive manner and not have precipitated this long-winded, cranky response. Most singers and songwriters seem to have experienced those who can do the origina or an off-shootl with a cool spin and voulla! They have a hit like La Bamba fore Ritche Vallenz. Maybe you could get "Smashmouth" to sing it.
