The Lyrics

During the election, I made as much fun of McCain as well. Didn't vote for either, but had a lot of laughs on my radio show from them.
The Great Pretender
New lyrics by Steve Bryant

O -o-o-o-o-o-o O-Bama is the Great Pretender
Pretending he already won
We know it's not real
But he's got his own Seal
And doesn’t cling to his bible or gun.

O -o-o-o-o-o-o O-Bama is the Great Pretender
He thinks that he’s really great.
He says, “Check the files,
I was born in the isles"
Of Hawaii, our 57 (58? 59th?) state

Too real is the feeling that he is a savior.
He says he smoked dope, but won’t explain his behavior.

O -o-o-o-o-o-o O-Bama is the Great Pretender.
Claims he won’t play the race card.
Says it’s a bitter pill,
He’s not on the dollar bill.
Sometimes, he tries too hard.
Trying to catch us off guard.

Too real is his true lack of leadership.
And Reverend Wright should have been a fatal slip.

O -o-o-o-o-o-o O-Bama is the Great Pretender.
He thinks that he’s doing fine.
He’s his own worst enemy,
Thinks that he’s John Kennedy.
Always saying, “The whole world is mine.”
Pretending that he is divine.

Very good stuff, Steve. I'm guessing that you first did this 2 years ago, but it is still rings true today. Impressive resumé, too!

It does not ring true. President Obama and his followers (myself included) do not pretend that he is divine. Unlike right-wingers with Ronald Reagan (and, for a while it seemed, Dubya), we do not make gods out of our Presidents. We just watch them make our lives and our country better and thank them.

Good job Steve. And a 4 - 1 - 2 is alot better than an anonymous one bomb! ;D

@JJ: No hyperlink on Steve's name means he has fewer than 10 parodies on this site. But I see great promise in this "novice" work (maybe he's submitted elsewhere), so I'm encouraging him with 5s to update it.

@Barry J. Mitchell - I was referring to the site link below the parody and was not being facetious. Mr. Bryant's resumé really is impressive.

A good well paced parody. I'm also glad you poked fun at McCain. I saw him and Obama on an AOL video at a fundraiser and talking respectfully to each other and making silly jokes about each other. They were yucking it up, and the campaign race was civilized for a change. I am not an Obama "follower" but I have admiration for him because he's smart and appears to want to heal the divisions that scar this nation today. He needs cooperation from Congress and such - they need to work together and compromise if need to. There's alot of problems that need attention NOW. Obama also needs to get a better jokewriter ; ) . I like McCain, he's got an honorable Vietnam Vet record but the Republic*nt extremists will probably try to put him on a shelf because he ain't "one of them" (i.e. extremist and/or fascistic). One of these days he will write his real memoirs and when mentioning the people who pretended to be his friends (and Sarah Palin too) he will say to himself, "My God! What have I done?". I don't remember anyone deifying Ronald Wilson Reagan but some people noted the # of letters in each of his names leads to 6 6 6. Still, making peace with the Soviet Union and preventing the nuclear suicide of planet Earth isn't what an Anti-Christ would do, is it? Obama is no god - he never claimed to be one but Dumbutt Dubya brought disaster and embarrassing shame to America - a Devil's disciple and a cretin. That's more a Great Pretender to me ; ) . Kudos.

This seems like something that would've fit in well on SNL in the lead-up to the election. Good job exploring some of the issues people had with him.

(ABC) All in fun, that's the 'political" and "parody" game. Great job!!!

MP may be a quickly dwindling group of Obummer followers. The Prez has a pathological need to be on the opposite side of the American people (every poll shows) on every issue. The ground zero mosque is his latest folly. Harry Reid and Howard Dean are just a few dems who strongly oppose it. Obummer will soon be known as Worst President Ever.

Nice work, I'm not a huge fan of political parodies, but your recording was really really good!

(ABC) I'm not a fan of political parodies either. It's difficult to preach beyond the choir and still be amusing. But more importantly for me, the pacing to the OS was clunky to read along to.

(ABC5) As I have said many times before, political parodies are not my cup of tea because I just don't care enough about politics to really know anything about it, so I don't understand most of the references, names and in-jokes that other people understand. It's like nearly any of the regulars trying to slog through on of my Transformer parodies. Nothing against you, Steve, I just can't really give a fair critique on this one as I have no real knowledge on the subject (all I know about Obama is that he's the current POTUS, he's black and he likes Spiderman, that's it).

(ABC O & P) Not a political-parody fan, but great recording and good pacing, rhyming, etc.

Political Parodies can be funny, but they tend to get dated, but very good job on the recording.

Used to think Obama was the Antichrist, but that was then, and this is now. Fresh take on an overdone subject, nicely done! 555

Well done, like many on here I'm not big on political parodies, but this wasn't mean-spirited (and nice that you take shots at both sides)
