Story about this misheard lyric by: Kent V Apparently girls were delivered packaged and shelf ready in the days this song was recorded. No mention of whether an expiration date was stamped on the can. (Did they punch air holes in it too?) |

"Twilight Time"
The Nonsensical Lyrics: Fingers of night will soon surrender
The setting Sun. Why They're Nonsensical: "Fingers of night" is, of course, a metaphor. But metaphors still need to work in their own way, and this one is just confused relative to what follows. To complete the statement consistent with the metaphor, isn't the night (or "fingers" thereof) BANISHING the Sun, not surrendering it? To "surrender" the Sun would mean allowing it to stay in the sky (in such a metaphorical sense, of course), wouldn't it?
