The Lyrics

http://thebeegees.topcities.com/8.htm
Have a teeny compartment, was the ninety-ninth drawer with a lock.
Here I sit at home looking out the window,
Imagining that world was stomped.
Then in comes a man like a pest in his union black
And complains in his five sounds and his face is a convergent slack.

I says: "Hey! You! Get out of my crowd.
Hey! You! Get out of my crowd.
Hey! You! Get out of my crowd.
Don't hang around just two's allowed.
In my crowd, lazy."

Those sticks and stones are zinging,
I say "Hi, it's me, and I made you whine."
A voice says "Hi - oh hell, who cares 'bout you?"
Well, I know that I'll do just fine.
He says "It's two a.m.,there's too much joy,
Don't you deplete and go on to bed?
You know I wish you would, the way you jive will soon wake up the dead."

I says: "Hey! You! Get out of my crowd.
Hey! You! Get out of my crowd.
Hey! You! Get out of my crowd.
Don't hang around just two's allowed.
In my crowd, lazy."

I was sick, so tired, fend I do. Piss!!
Now pride myself in not being cast down
"It was so very quiet and peaceful," it was very odd, no soul was around.
I played music loud, I was so wired, and I charted and schemed.
In the morning sun shining body dragging, but with a smile as my mien.

I says: "Hey! You! Get out of my crowd.
Hey! You! Get out of my crowd.
Hey! You! Get out of my crowd.
Don't hang around just two's allowed.
In my crowd, lazy."

I like your work Adagio, but why "Get Out'N My Crowd" as the title, but it doesn't appear in the song - curious as always, yours, SM - 555
Adagio - November 16, 2004 - Report this comment
Thanks, Stuart. It appears in the chorus. It's just an indication of somebody unwelcome to hang around.

Two's company, but three 5's allowed!

I hung around 'til the end of song.. You only allow 2 but I'm putting up some 5s.

Thanks JB, alvin, Dee (it sat in my 'to do' list for the longest time), and Guy!!

I wondered about the title, too, Stuart...you and I can be in that crowd together! =)
Stuart McArthur - November 16, 2004 - Report this comment
okay, Arwen.....hmm, it's dark in here....
Adagio - November 16, 2004 - Report this comment
It says that it's my crowd and only two are allowed. It's a secret who can join me. ;-)
Arwen - November 16, 2004 - Report this comment
I think what Stuart and I are confused about is...what is the significance of "Get Out'N My Crowd," which is the title...vs..."get out of my crowd," which is what it says in the song. What is the "out'n" all about?
Paul Robinson - November 16, 2004 - Report this comment
Hmmm...some of this reminds me of a complaint a neighbor made to me about 20 years ago...I was listening to music very late and very loud...but I was using headphones, so what was the big, damn deal? Uhhh...well, my stereo system allowed me to play BOTH the "A" AND THE "B" speakers simultaneously with a certain setting selected...which I had somehow done...which I really was totally unaware of for maybe 30 or 40 minutes or so...Oops!!! Nice work here...5's
Adagio - November 16, 2004 - Report this comment
Thanks Paul!
Stuart McArthur - November 16, 2004 - Report this comment
yes, not that we NEED to know, just curious about why you made that Out'N decision :-)
Adagio - November 17, 2004 - Report this comment
Stuart...local idioms
Harry Mossback - November 17, 2004 - Report this comment
Arwen - I think it's pretty obvious what Out'N is about. And no I don't think it's about you.
Adagio - November 17, 2004 - Report this comment
Thank you Mossback.
Arwen - November 17, 2004 - Report this comment
I didn't think it was about me, either. Not sure where that came from. Sheesh.

And for the record, I could tell what the song was about. I just wondered, as did Stuart, if there was a reason the title was worded differently than the actual lyrics.

Harry Mossback - November 17, 2004 - Report this comment
Woh duh - It's parody, they are suppossed to be worded differently. I didn't know there was a rule that they had to. Am I missing something here?
Arwen - November 17, 2004 - Report this comment
Yes, clearly you are. The words in HER parody title are different from the words in HER parody. This has NOTHING to do with the original. When Stuart asked her about it...she said, "that's what it says in the parody." Actually, it's not. THAT was my point.

Adagio addressed our question (although only speaking to Stuart) explaining it as "local idioms"...so I'm not sure why you jumped in to defend her. She'd done it herself already. It was a dead issue at that point, Harry.

let's quietly backstep away from this one Arwen....looking at the ground.... no sudden hand movements....
