The Lyrics

Rootin’ in my garden, plants that bloom,
greenin’ up my backyard…lots of room.

It’s helped a lot that we’ve had sunny weather,
leading me and others to growing pleasure.
I’m on a pace to really reap, because I’m
groomin’ rows by sending weeds to doom.
Loomin’: the efflorescence of blooms.

Along with flowers I am planting peas,
collard and chard for a bounty of greens…
the prettiest garden you’ve ever seen, so
bloomin’ is my pride this afternoon…
beatin’ my chest…like a drum that booms.

[sound of fists thumping on chest]

Suddenly, it’s no more a sunny day;
a cloudburst comes, washes the seeds away.
I guess I should return to growin’ hay.

So my crop next will be a cow delicacy.

Mooin’ is the herd that chews and chews;
groovin’ on alfalfa’s what they do.
Moo, moo, moo, moo.

Chewin’, upchuckin’ cuds.
