"The Green, Green Eggs and Ham"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

The original was by Porter Wagoner, but Sir Tommy Tightpants has the most familiar version. "Green Eggs and Ham" was published by Theodor Seuss Geisel, a.k.a. Dr. Seuss, 50 years ago, August 12, 1960.
I won't eat them in the rain.
Will not eat them, on a train.
Will not eat them for my Mama or my Papa.
I will not share them with my own sweet Mary.
If I do, she will become sweary.
I do not like the green, green eggs and ham.

Yes, they'll all come to greet me
telling me this food tastes sweetly.
But I do not like the green, green eggs and ham.

The old plate looks the same.
But the ham is green and dry.
And there's the green yolks from our old green hen.
Not in house, with mouse, or my sweet Mary.
Not in box, or with fox Jerry.
I do not like the green, green eggs and ham.

Yes, they'll all come to greet me
telling me this food tastes sweetly.
But I do not like the green, green eggs and ham.

Then I awake, and I look around me
in a boat, with a goat that walks around me.
And I realize that I haven't been eating.
For there's a plate with a nutritious breakfast
and I must eat, knife and fork at daybreak.
And yes, I like the green, green eggs and ham.

Yes, I thank you, Mr. Sam-I-Am
whether fried, or poached, or scram.
And it's good to eat
the green, green eggs
and ham!

Funny retelling of a childhood classic. Fits the melody quite well. I can almost hear Tom Jones or Johnny Cash singing it.

Mike meant what he said and he said what he meant, and I liked his re-telling one hundred percent! ;D

To me that sounds like Tom Lehrer or Weird Al Yankovic. "Sweary" is a good word you coined.

Just be sure those eggs didn't come from that farm in Iowa.

2Eagle: Regrettably, I did not coin "sweary." I first heard it from Colin Firth in the original, U.K., soccer-themed version of "Fever Pitch." Patrick: I can't believe that egg recall hasn't been parodied by now. It sounds like the kind of story Malcolm Higgins would take on.

Was this the first instant of the listeria scare (in eggs)?
