Song Parodies -> "Gore 4"

Original Song Title:

"More"

 (MP3)
Original Performer:

Vic Damone

Parody Song Title:

"Gore 4"

Parody Written by:

John A. Barry

The Lyrics

Leslie Gore’s two hits were “It’s My Party [and I’ll cry if I want to]” and “Judy’s Turn to Cry.” She seemed obsessed with weeping.
Gore was a dame who loved to cry and moan
because her love ditched her. . .would not atone.
Gore turned the tables on Judy one day—
her turn to cry, ’cause Johnny went away.

Gore resolutely crowed that Johnny had hit the road
and back to her he was creeping—
thus her peeping, no more weeping.
Wronged her now stronger, but song ain’t sublime,
but it gets the point across in no time.

Judy is Johnny’s whore no more—
Leslie’s confidence restored:
she’ll cease the teary outpour.

Leslie, it seemed, was keeping score.
Won the battle—but the war?
Or will the tears flow once more?

I'm getting a-Gore-aphobia;) After her singing career cooled, she dabbled in acting, even appearing in two 1967 Batman episodes as "Pussycat" (a minion of Catwoman).

JAB, as ususal, 5s for your parodies. For some reason I couldn't find "More" yesterday and so did the other Vic Damone song...

She was probably crying all the way to the bank...
