Once 6-foot-5, brash and bold (walkin’ tall, my avocation)
Now 5’ 5”—“You’re short!” I’m told (talk like that prompts irritation)

This is degeneration,

I watch those discs fade away (it’s causing me much frustration)
On MRI, in shades of gray (resonance, not radiation)
F**king phospholipids are on vacation! (need miracle medication!)
So I’m squawking about degeneration (mocking my degeneration)

Basketball I no longer play (court’s no longer my play station)
Situation’s causing a big vexation (I am filled with perturbation)
not walking tall ’cause of degeneration (sometimes I crawl, near prostration)
