The author is not making any claims that the Komodo Monitor is by any means a true dinosaur but if he is not then he is missing a good chance to be. Just read this for the fun of it and let's not get into a diatribe of the likeliness that this animal is in any way a true dinosaur. He is just the last living species that is closest IMO to the dinosaur.

So, where come you from Komodo?
Was not 'til 1910 did anyone know that you exist.
Are you a tiny-saur Komodo?
You go hunting by yourself near awfully sunny Myanmar.
Out your mouth the hissin' comes,
And sound your big ears nearly can't hear near or far.

A dino monster you, Komodo?
In the hour that the planet went your kin eternity,
But you were saved, Komodo.
They were done and lost their life, and dinosaurus all did die,
But you held your claim and stayed,
Where dinosaurs were standin' you still hunt and lie.

Must be something in your genes just right,
You won the fight, Komodo.
You are standing there for all to see,
Not history, Komodo.
Though it should have been that you would lose,
You're still here yet.
If it happened just the same again,
Would you get dead, Komodo?

If it happened just the same again,
Would you get dead, Komodo?

But you're here to stay, Komodo,
And back so many years you were not stifled by God's Hand.
You did not succumb, Komodo.
You did not befall the plight that fell that caused your kins' last stand.
As each dino falls and dies,
Allowed you were to bite and eat 'the dead on land.

Was there something in the air that night?
That spared your plight, Komodo?
They're remaining there for you and me,
Not history, Komodo.
Why this dino did the Maker choose,
Just one he spared,
To be here yet.
Did He leave one there to show to men,
Why did not end, Komodo?

There was nothing made them bear the plight,
Came through the night, Komodo.
Still their lining moves through history,
Beat destiny, Komodo.
But the theory bought said they should lose,
But, they're here yet.
How would scientists explain this then?
Why are there then, Komodo?

How would scientists explain this then?
Why are there then, Komodo?

Wasn't Phil Bronstein, sharon Stone's exHubby bitten on his toe, from one of these dragon liizards?

Pip - That kind of line would have been learned from the M&P writing style - no wonder you liked it. Thanks.

Pat - I've been fairly busy - I did catch your parody today. I typoed the word "paining" that was meant to say "painting" but I know that you read right through typos. I did do a bit of research before I wrote this. I read an entire Wiki article on it and it seemed credable, plus some facts I already knew on it helped or were confirmed by the Wiki article. I awoke that morning at 3:00AM - read the article, knocked out the parody, got ready for work and was on duty at 5:45AM.

Farce - Not as unique getting it as you may think. I was looking to do ABBA's "Fernando". I found the word in a wildcard search using onelook.com. Thanks, buddy.

Alvin - yes they are but my research says they become quite tame in captivity. Just the same I wouldn't get near one. They have so much bacteria in their teeth from terminal gingivitis that it gets killer toxic if one is biten and if it is not treated properly. Komodos are known to bite their prey and follow it for days until the animal expires from infection from the bite. They are mostly scavangers and feed mainly on carrion, however.

M'Lady, I have heard that before - can't say for sure if it is true but he would have had a very swollen foot and in much pain. Just think M'Lady there are still dragons that can be slain in your honour, but alas the magistrates have declared them endangered and the offender could be shackled and jailed for such misdemeanor of folly offensivenes. Thanks for your comment.

Merry - Just going back over all the parodies I commented on since Thursday. Somehow I missed thanking you on this one. And I may have also learned backward lines from M&P just as I told Pip about "Tiny Saur". Thanks for your comment, Merry and sorry I missed you on the first go 'round.

Not bad. At least it was interesting because I've never seen a parody about these creatures before, although I have seen these creatures before at the zoo.

ABC- This is the first parody i've seen about komodo's, and I don't know if any other song would have worked here, nice job!
Agrimorfee - July 07, 2010 - Report this comment
(ABC)A zoological tidbit, and an essay on Darwinism, all in one tidy ABBA parody. Keen work, Guy! Nice to see you in competition again.

(ABC) This parody was not "dragon" on for very long....LOL...that was cheesy. VERY well done!

(ABC K/L) Great topic choice on an exotic reptile! I want to own one myself! The best way to dress Komodos are in kimonos! Great as always, Guy! 555 dragon scales for this one!

(ABC K & L) Great parody about a great big lizard. Excellent in every way, not to mention quite informative. 5s FTW.

Christie: Try putting a kimono on a Komodo Dragon, and I guarantee you we won't hear from each other again or read/vote on each other's parodies until the afterlife. They're vicious animals, and have very dirty mouths that will cause a lethal infection. ;-)
Guy - July 16, 2010 - Report this comment
Christie & Andria - Indeed this is so about the Komodo. The lizard has very poor eye sight and very poor hearing. It has a keen sense of smell. It gets its food usually by lying in wait for some unfortunate creature to come within striking distance and then bites them injecting a massive amount of deadly bacteria into the bite wound and then tracks the prey by scent until the bacteria from its mouth overwhelms its prey via infection and then devours it. The prey usually dies or is immobilized within a day or so. Yeah they nasty..

(ABC-KL) Interesting theory here. The grammar was a bit odd in places, but seeing as Agrimorfee (our resident Grammar Nazi) didn't seem to notice, then it's clearly not that big a deal. Amusing little parody, 555.
