"Don't Cross The Streams"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Who ya gonna call?
A proton stream
A frightful fling
It traps a ghost
In cagey thing

And, indeed, I wondered
‘Bout atomic gale
Could it end my future
Send me through the veil

“Do believe in danger.”
Something Egon always said to me
I believed in danger
So I kept this safety tip decree

“Don’t seek extremes.
Don’t cross the streams.”

We snared the things
So indiscreet
To tell the truth
We torched a suite

Then this confrontation
Came and broke the cage
Rushed into Manhattan
Ghost and ghoulish rage

We believed in danger
Something bad was loosed upon the street
We believed in danger
Then our mayor came and said to we

“It’s bad in Queens.
I’ve called Marines.
On you, I’m keen.
I trust the streams.”

A siren scream
Up stair to see
This ancient god
With doggie team

Then a tasty wonder
On a massive scale
Stomped upon the churches
Evil might pre-vail

We did see the danger
Sugar man crushed everything in street
We assessed the danger
From Egon, the words were short and sweet

“We’ve got machines.
Let’s cross the streams.
Might toast our genes.
Let’s cross the streams.

A real stream-weaver of a tale! Maybe it should be the theme song for CERN.

You told the story well....Great soothing melody you chose....such a contrast with the silliness of the movie..... as if we were watching in slow motion.... a treat !

I agree with Dave – a good re-telling that fit this OS well.

Well told, even without the Stay-puff Marshmellow Man

Agreed, good choice of OS for subject matter, Warren.

Reminds me of one of the all-time great movie understatements:

Don't cross the streams
Why not?
Trust me, it will be bad
What do you mean "bad?"
It's hard to explain, but try to imagine all life as you know it stopping instantaneously and finding yourself confined forever in another dimension.
Okay, important safety tip. Thanks Egon.

Leough- I had to look up CERN, so thanks for the education and the comments.
Dave W.- Its contrast was a happy accident that never occurred to me until you pointed it out. Mucho thanks.
Andy- Thank you, sir.
T1K- Ah, but the Marshmallow man is in the song. 'Tasty wonder on a massive scale' and 'Sugar man' were references to that fine, yummy agent of our destruction.
Peregrin- That exchange has stayed with me since I first saw the movie. To me, the "It will be bad" was a catchphrase for my friends and I for years. Thanks for posting the dialogue!
