The Lyrics

Not yet. Perhaps one day.
My father is an engineer, he taught me love the sea
My mother was his galley slave, his XO and his chief
They're both good sailors to the boot and sure know what to do
They both love all the liberty and freedom of seas blue
My happiness was things which other kids considered fool
For summers at the islands and the winters in the school
My future, it was sealed when I learned all the ropes like man
I wanted to go sailing and have Free a-Cruising Plan

I went to sea with eagerness, I grew onboard a boat
I learnt to love the things that swim and all the things that float
My dad, he taught me navigate and how to handle yacht
Then I grew up and married and our own boat we had bought
I had this wildest dream of going out to oceans blue
To live as sailing hoboes and see Hawaii and Peru
I had a good career, my boss could never understand
Why I gave it up for sailing and the Free a-Cruising Plan.

We headed out to oceans circumnavigate the world
We hoisted up the mainsail and the jib we too unfurled
We headed first to England and at Azores then we did land
'Cos all I need is sailing and the Free a-Cruising Plan

We headed south to tradewinds, and Atlantic we did call
we sailed then to westwards till we saw the first landfall
We settled down for month or two and worked for a while
To gather up some money 'fore we'd go logging many a mile
Pacific was wide open and Tahiti was our tag
We headed to live in paradise and to show the Blue Cross Flag
Marquesas, Fiji, Solomons, and Hawaii we did land
So we gave us in for sailing and the Free a-Cruising Plan
Oooh the Free a-Cruising Plan

Sailing all around the world with Free a-Cruising Plan
Sailing all around the world with Free a-Cruising Plan
Sailing all around the world with Free a-Cruising Plan
Sailing all around the world with Free a-Cruising Plan
Sailing all around the world with Free a-Cruising Plan
Sailing all around the world with Free a-Cruising Plan
We could have kept with Joneses and bought home and minivan
But we gave it up for sailing and a Free a-Cruising Plan!

Nicely done. If you are in need of a navigator/helmsman, I can be had! ;D

OMR, we are actually planning one day to leave to the oceans. Not during the next summer, though

Wish you well and may your dreams come true. Your words are actually more uplifting and rational than the original lyrics.

Patrick, leaving out to the oceans has been my secret dream since I was sixteen. My parents had (and have still) a yacht, and I practically grew up onboard - we spent all the summers at the sea. Me and my hubby bought a yacht of our own a year ago, and did practising last summer - we spent three weeks at the high seas. Even after surviving two storms, six thunderstorms, two complete standstills, broken toilet and drained battery, we still want to go.
