"A Course With No Dame"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

On my first big trip to NASCAR
I was deafened by roars from the track.
There were Chevies and Fords and Pontiacs
And the southerly-jacked maniacs.
When it ended I looked at the winner’s car
And saw no broads for the champ.
Just dudes from Jimmy Joe’s old pit crew
No bleached-blond with-the-hot-pants-tramp.

I’ve been thru Daytona on a course with no dame
I saw Jimmy Joe cry, what a shame.
In Daytona, the track will ruin your frame
And the bad Southern boys are to ones to be blamed.
Duh duh, duh duh duh duh duh, duh ta duh, duh duh.

After 5 laps in the asphalt sun
I was dreaming of chicks all the while.
Like a hotshot with an eager gun
High-speed cars, T & A are my style.
But imagine my grief and my fuel-less fun
When I had finished my last brutal mile.

You see I’ve been thru Daytona on a course with no dame
I saw Jimmy Joe cry, what a shame.
In Daytona, the track will ruin your frame
And the bad Southern boys are to ones to be blamed.
Duh duh, duh duh duh duh duh, duh ta duh, duh duh.

So I think I’ll, join the PBA
and take-my-anger-out on those ten pins.
I’ll start balding and gain some weight OK
I’ll be a NASCAR fish without fins.
But at least I’ll, have the biggest balls
to impress the new chicks on the block.
My new nickname, will be Dick Underalls
By the way my balls hang when I walk.

When I saw the title, I thought this was going to be about cannibalism. A 5-course parody.

Thank you Mark and John. Cannibalism, hmm, now there's a concept, or perhaps that was referenced in the Iguana pun song with the lyric "gladiator"!?

Thanks TJC, still love the PBA tournies on TV on Sundays. The only sport where the equipment matches their heads!

Super concept/title switch, and "I’ll be a NASCAR fish without fins." was great. Having driven on the Daytona track myself, I loved this. (Not during a race, LOL). Minor nits (it's a niche for moi):
And the bad Southern boys are to ones to be blamed.
Shouldn't this be " ... are THE ones to be blamed? ... also, quit putting commas after "I'll". Subject/vert shoudn't be comma-separated. If you're trying to indicate a pause, the ellipsis ... does that without breaking the line or the grammar. And you get extra bonus points if you vary the chorus, even if the OS chorus repeats. Think of it as a chance to display your skills and give us two more choruses to laugh at.

Anyway, 555+, and don't mind me -- no one else does :-)

NASCAR - An excuse to down several six packs of brew while watching cars continuiously make left turns. But this parody has merit - It's not just "Another brick-yard in the wall". This parody scanned nicely and is a fun read. Well done - high 5s.

Thanks everyone, TT that was indeed a typo, should have been THE. I like to add the commas for singing purposes and cadence if you will, but you did indeed inspire different choruses in "Lay Low" for which I'm grateful.
Tommy Turtle - April 17, 2009 - Report this comment
Jim, helping readers with cadence is a good thing, My suggestion was just that a comma can also be mistaken for a punctuation mark (which it usually is), whereas the ellipsis ... is perfectly suited to a pause in singing. (In writing, it indicates omission, so in singing, the pause of singing.) Nothing more arrogant than holding oneself up as an example, but since "Yesterday" has exactly that kind of pause in each bridge, it's a great example of the ellipses, so please check this "Yesterday" parody and decide for yourself: http://www.amiright.com/parody/60s/thebeatles2383.shtml
Cheers!

Ah, I see your point TT. It's a matter of getting this old dog to do new tricks....and always remember, "I'm Lazier than You". That was a masterful "Yesterday" btw.
