Parody Song Title:

"Wistful Songs Of Air Supply's"

Parody Written by:

Stuart McArthur

The Lyrics

Those assumedly hot-and-hunky Air Supply dudes are such experts at love (it's all they sing about) they put my sad efforts completely to shame................. youtube of original song here

Well I cried through most of Sunday, coz I got so damn depressed
I have yet to snog a lady in my furtive lifelong quest
I aint ready for the altar, just a meaningless quick f***
But (apart from Paris) I'm all out of luck

Well I keep on thinkin' bout those wistful songs of Air Supply's
how they made love out of nothing, at all......gee they're lucky guys
I've tried dancing like Travolta, and extending.........(never mind)
But my propositions always get declined

Should I un-button my shirt and should I get an afro-fuzz?
Should I come across all earnest, like that Air Supply dude does?
Well I tried to do it
the girl said "Stuart...
dude you blew it"

Well I keep on thinkin bout those wistful songs of Air Supply's
They've had so much love they're lost in it......goddam, they're lucky guys
I could never match their love-lives, I admit downheartedly
Love and other bruises won't be had by me

If you're reading this sad ditty and endowed with female stuff
would you love me just a little?
(just the once would be enough)
It's okay to fake it
I don't mind sayin'
I will still take it

boo wop hoo hoo
boo wop hoo hoo
boo wop hoo hoo

boo hoo hoo hoo

What's this? A new Stu parody? Halle-freakin'-lujah! Way to go, keeping us waiting for so long, McArthur...;-). However, the wait was worth it; a typically sublime slice of self-deprecation and celeb roasting delivered by the master. A deserved 555+++

(pssst, Stu...the OS title's actually just "Sister Golden Hair"....but I won't say anything....:-D)

I... freakin'... HATE... Air Supply! I'd like to cut off THEIR air supply! My sister, however, loves them, and was broken-up when I told her they were playing the State Theater in New Brunswick and she couldn't get out of what she was doing that night. She'd want me to give you a five.

Great title line, pacing, Paris joke and not faking about not caring about faking it. Now with your leave in mind (welcome back BTW) I gotta go all shrink on you and wonder if this freudian outlet is in reality a parody about writers block, if so nice handjob on the keyboard... ;-)

I'm glad your muse paid you a visit, Stu! Loved the Travolta line. 555

Well, it looks like I chose the right random day to show up. Just because I haven't written anything in a million years doesn't mean I don't love that you've finally come up with something new, Stu. This had me rolling...perfect!! LOL!
McKludge - June 10, 2008 - Report this comment
I only see Air Supply as proof of parody axiom #1. You can come up with a quick parody by substituting the word "drug" for the word "love"
Lost in Drugs, All Out Of Drugs, The One That You Drug, etc.
And those titles are free for anyone to use.

Geeze... Took you long enough. Too busy chasing tail I see. Well, here's 5 extremely sappy Air Supply love songs with equal number of extremely sappy (sickeningly so) music videos.

wow, this process brings back great memories - thanks everyone - it's easy to forget how uplifting writing parodies (and submitting them) makes you feel - hopefully I can slide back more often

thanks Kristof - apologies about the licence with the title, but I wanted to show off my surprise/Supply's sub ;-)

thank your sister for the 5s MP but I'm totally on your side with that little debate - "Air Brushed" would be a more appropriate moniker

lol, Peter - and now you've raised the topic of psychological problems *reclines on couch* I think you might be write (er, right)

thanks Rick - I think it was dropping in and seeing you, Kristof and Spaff all submitting last week that made me miss this place :-(

thanks alvin :-)

thanks Arwen - I definitely have missed your humour and uniqueness - if you submitted again (and Claude and JD showed up) it'd be 2004 all over again - btw, and to quote me..."If you're reading this sad ditty and endowed with female stuff" - j/k... J/K !!! ;-)

thanks McKludge - and speaking of love subs, in my fourth line I snuck "all out of luck" in as a reference to Air Supply's "All Out Of Love" but I acknowledge its obliqueness

thanks Matthias - sappy alright - I had to minimise the youtube clip I was using for pacing, just to avoid vomit clogging up my keyboard :-)

Ah, Australia. Home of funnel spiders, Crocodile Dundee, Stuart McArthur, and Air Supply.

Excellent job and good to see you, man. And I'll have you know that I caught the "all out of luck" line, so you're not hopelessly oblique.

General McArthur, the Mighty Allied Commander has returned ! My ' female stuff loved it, sir ! You might give a Stetson & tight jeans a try, Sir ! I believe that works DownUnder, too!

ha, thanks Spaff - and that's an awesome foursome you've granted me membership to -and I'm particularly proud I got in ahead of Sister Janet Mead :-)

thanks for your support littleCupCakes
*scribbles on jotter* "Stetson and tight jeans..."
...and thanks for your recent comments on other parodies of mine also, which I WILL get around to updating my thankyous on one day! ;-)

PS: whoops, please correct my above comment to read "youtube clip I was using for research"

I am very happy to see that you have something new again, it has been awhile since I've read something new by you. I liked the luck, f**k couplet and considering the sleeping aid original, I think you improved upon it 100%

thanks Dave - feels like it's been years but it's only 5 months as it turns out

Hey Stu, good work, LOL'd at the "Should I un-button my shirt and should I get an afro-fuzz?" line, heh heh. Never could quite get how they were so popular and am still amazed 30 years on that they broke big in America!
Guy - June 13, 2008 - Report this comment
From Air Supply to hair of pie. Quite clever how you got your name into the parody, Stu. Sister Golden Hair is one of those OS's that just seem to lend itself to great parody in the hands of great writers. This is top shelf stuff here Stu. 5's will get you 20 if you are not careful.
