The Lyrics

I met an Asian woman
She cooked for me one day
She drove her car right over to me
But a cat got in her way

She thinks that
Any grub is good grub
So she made a scrape suzette
Mmmmm ooooooh
And she looked at me as I took a bite she said

You ate somebody's pet
B-b-b-b-baby you just ate somebody's pet
Try some try some with the vinaigrette
You know you know you know you just
ate somebody's pet

But now it's tastin' better
Since I picked off the fur
So when I biffed a poodle
I brought it home to her

She knows that
Any grub is good grub
So she made an omelette
Mmmmmm hmmmmm
She served it with those crisp brown fries and said

You ate somebody's pet
B-b-b-b-baby you just ate somebody's pet
Next time, next time we'll do takeout at the vet
You know you know you know you just
ate somebody's pet

I gave ya straight up 5's man. Great parody on a great rock and roll number. Someone voted just before me and laid some 2's on ya. Shame - Even if they didn't like it the pace is a definate 5. Must be one of those PETA sympathizers.

Where I come from the word for hot dogs is "korv" and there used too be a light fat brand called "korvette, pronounced "corvette". What an extra pun that could have been in this song. 5-5-5. :-)

Superb.

Snaggletoth - I've never heard of that. Where in the world do they call Hot Dogs korvs? Sounds Balkan.

If there was a 6 I would give it to you....this was great......there was once this chinese place in my town that was right across the street from a pond.....there was a big thing a few years ago because it was discovered that the chinese place was stealing the ducks from the pond and cooking them in the food.....Im sure they cooked some cats as well.....as Fred Willard said in "Best of show" : "And to think, in some Asian countries these dogs are eaten"

Quite liked the concept of this one; even if the meter's a bit off in places - but i'm in no position to complain. :/

Just one question though: What's 'biffed' mean? Must be American slang. Sounds like it means 'punched' or something, reminds me of 'beff' in Dutch.
Hoeveel - July 07, 2003 - Report this comment
Surely there isn't much meat on most cats.

I was in South Korea in 1987 and got a hamburger of sorts in a little mom and pops place - Now that I read this song, I seem to remember that it had a little 'bite' to it. Hmmm, I wonder...

That was disgusting...but still a good parody.

Suddenly, I'm wondering what Carly Simon meant by "clouds in my coffee."

Great stuff. Hadn't heard "scrape suzette" before. Who are these people who sabotage with 2s? By any standard this is a great parody. A jealous author perhaps?
The Great Karlando - July 07, 2003 - Report this comment
I think it was probably some PETA dork who decided to take their rage out on this excellent parody. Don't let em bring ya down...keep 'em coming!
Claude Prez - July 07, 2003 - Report this comment
Hey thanks everyone. Technically crepe suzette is a dessert dish that would normally never involve meat or dressing of any kind but what the hell; I liked the pun. As far as the twos go, I'm willing to consider the possibility that someone just has high standards and I should work harder to improve. Oh, and "biff" does mean punch, but as kids we often used it as it is here. Thanks again and welcome back, M&P, "Bowler" was my fave of your new ones.

Steve: I reckon the 2's were from the guy who normally gives 1s... but reckoned it was a good parody ;-)
Magnus - July 08, 2003 - Report this comment
F***ing brilliant, and great pacing. Guy: "korv" is sausage in Swedish, so "hot dog" is "varmkorv". I remember hearing about a german soldier at Stalingrad, who wrote in his diary about having to survive on moldy potatoes and fish. A few days later, he noted "This is a premiere...I've had roasted cat".

Magnus is right, it´s Swedish, and I´m from Sweden. I just posted my 26:th and 27:th parody and Chucky already has my "parody writers bio" so stay tuned for a little more personal info very soon. :-)

This has apparently sparked a flurry of parodies about killing and/or eating domesticated animals. And that's a good thing. But I had the car radio set to "scan" the other day (my favorite station), and the original came on. All I could hear was these lyrics. I'm afraid that BTO is forever ruined for me. Damn you, Claude Prez.

Hopefully, this will cause a chain reaction and we'll see Catburgers and hamstersmoothies appearing in McDonalds over the next few weeks >:)
Billy Florio - July 17, 2003 - Report this comment
I think McDonalds hamburgers are already made out of cat...

Ran out of time, but try this: http://wave.prohosting.com/philsdd/claudesparodies-youatesomebodyspet.mp3 - could be better, I know, but I'm off on holiday now. Back in a couple of weeks...

By the way, Phil: Welcome back and thanks for recording this. I listened to your others too (I could never get them to work before but for this I figured it out) Great stuff! Your Kenny Rogers voice sounds a lot like Jerry Garcia to me. (Before he died I mean)
Phil Alexander - September 03, 2003 - Report this comment
Jerry Garcia? Now that's someone to whom I've never been compared before...I'm dead grateful ;-) I'd like to redo the recording when I've time: it's not as good as it could be.. but time is a fleeting thing, and I can't believe the holidays are over already and another set of school fees due :-( Does anybody want to buy a parody?

After nearly two years, I still hear these words every time the BTO original comes on. Damn you, Claude Prez. Also, I'm glad I revisited this thread because Philbo's recording had totally eluded me. I just downloaded it and got a great laugh. I love this site.
