Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

I remember wearing green jeans
'Go Vegan' shirts even when they weren't in style
eating popcorn without butter at the movies
even as a young child
I was eating granola when all my friends
were eating burgers & drinking booze
I was vegan when vegan wasn't cool

I remember visiting the bakery
being difficult and turning down scones
I remember when no one was looking
I was nibbling flax seeds alone
I took a lot of kiddin' 'cause I never did fit in
Now look at everybody wanting to be what I was then
I was vegan when vegan wasn't cool

I was vegan when vegan wasn't cool
I was vegan from my 'save seals' cap down to my non-leather shoes
I still act and look the same
What you see ain't nothing new
I was vegan when vegan wasn't cool

They called us 'annoying vegans'
For stickin' to our beet roots
I'm just glad we're in a country
Where we're all free to choose
I was vegan when vegan wasn't cool

I was vegan when vegan wasn't cool
I was vegan from my reggae hat down to my cruelty-free boots

I still act and look the same
What you see ain't nothing new
'Cause I was vegan when vegan wasn't cool
Yeah, I was vegan when vegan wasn't cool

Nice parody- 555!!! Reminds me of the Hitler "veggie" myth that was part of Goebbles' propaganda lies to make the Fuhrer seem pure like a Messiah. In fact, Hitler ate meat, drank, and had sex with Eva Braun on a regular basis. He didn't smoke nor like make-up on women is all.

I'm a meatatarian, I enjoy a good, plain MacDonald's burger (Scottish Cuisine). But, as to your dietary preference, all I can say is "Give peas a chance". I like the image of you sneaking off to munch on flax seeds in private.

Minstrel - Good parody here, well executed. If I may be so bold, I rename you after Zorro's secret identity...Don Diego "Vegan". 5-5-5 ;D

Rob, I just realized that Gandhi was a world figure at roughly the same time as Hitler. Gandhi came from a vegetarian culture and had famously renounced sexual relations (though he exposed himself to temptations to build up his "resistance"). What you say of Goebbels, sounds like he was trying to equate Hitler with Gandhi, Gandhi representing an ideal to be imitated.

As a vegan and music lover, the possibility of a vegan parody on this song occurred to me. I thought that SOMEONE must have come up with one and Googled it. Yours is the only one I found. Good job!
