The Lyrics

No offense to any bands/artists/CDs/song titles in this song; actually, I like most of them. MOST of them.
Just take those Joel records off the shelf
I'll sit and listen to 'em by myself
I love "Captain Jack" and "All About Soul"
Just give me old time Billy Joel

Don't make me listen to Chicago
You know that nothing ever measures to Joel
That N'sync junk is a whole lot of bull,
I like that old time Billy Joel

Still like that old time Billy Joel
I love "My Life" and "All About Soul"
I really don't care 'bout that band Toto
Give me old time Billy Joel

Won't go to hear The Grand Funk Railroad
Won't listen to that crap from Natalie Cole
There's only one guy that I do like the most
You guessed it, his name is Billy Joel

Why are you playin' "Jagged Little Pill"
Nothin' amounts to those songs by good old Bill
Why put on that disc by Collective Soul??
I want that old time Billy Joel!

Still like that old time Billy Joel!
I love "My Life" and "All About Soul"!
I really don't care 'bout that band Toto!
Give me old time Billy Joel!

Yowww!

(Bob Seger music automatically stops and "Only The Good Die Young" immediately starts playing)

Great song. I like Billy Joel myself. But what's wrong with Chicago?

Thanks GDR. Actually, nothing at all is wrong with Chicago; I love them. But as I stated at the top of the parody, I actually like most of the bands mentioned in this parody... I just picked some stuff off the top of my head that rhymed with Joel. :)

This made me remember an early Weird Al song, "It's Still Billy Joel to Me." That's a compliment.

I dont think that that Weird Al song was ever released...I remember it too, but I dont know where I read it, or heard it or something...in fact, I dont think I even heard it....I definitly read the lyrics though

I'm revealing my old-fart status here, but I remember it from the Dr. Demento show. Never released, eh? Doesn't surprise me - I hear that Al doesn't put stuff on albums without getting the blessing of the artists he parodies, and I doubt BJ would sign off on a song that nails him so hard.

My favorite was the tune he did about Viet Nam. I can't recall the name of it .

From period of Cold Spring Harbor to The Stranger, Billy Joel put out as intelligent, soulful, and thoughtful music as I've ever heard. I really appreciate your ability to recognize this and express it so originally.

Thanks everybody!

I love it! Although it's hard to imagine Alanis' work without "The Entertainer," "Big Shot," much of "The Nylon Curtain" and half of "Glass Houses." Guy: If you want to know what's wrong with the band Chicago, ask Dave Marsh, although I don't agree with him. Wild Man: It was "Goodnight Saigon" -- a.k.a. "And we would all go down together," not to be confused with Arnold Schwarzenegger's theme song from the same period. Jay: Why stop at '78? BJ kept it up through '93...then Christie left him. I'm ashamed I ever lusted after her.

God I loved that, Billy Joel being one of my favorites. All 5s!

Funny, clever, matched the rhyme scheme almost flawlessly, and, of course... BILLY JOEL RULES!
