Parody Song Title:

"Portmanteau"

Parody Written by:

Onslaught

The Lyrics

I think I’m going to portmanteau
It’s something that I really like to do
The lingo that I parlez-vous
It’s what I like to do

P-p-p-p-p-p-portmanteau
It’s not as easy as it looks, to do
To make one good word out of two
Is the crux of portmanteau

I like to kick it at a Brestaurant
I enjoy one anytime I want
I find that Hooters is my favorite haunt
I have to say that’s true

Those shorts they wear are Bootylicious
I go there for the steaming dishes
My favorite station there is Trish’s
Oh, and yeah, there’s food

And have I mentioned that portmanteau
Is an art form that I’m so into
Comes from the land of cordon bleu
It’s what I like to do

P-p-p-p-p-p-portmanteau
To make one, here is what you need to do
Apply a spot of linguistic glue
You got a portmanteau

There’s a lot of words you might have read
Like meld and napalm, smog and moped
And frankenfood, it fills me full of dread
I’ll bet it does, you too

I’ve heard about a thing they call Bromance
It sounds like something that they do in France
I say they better keep it in their pants
Don’t wanna’ havta’ spew

I still like trying a portmanteau
When describing something totally new
Or just a new name for my favorite shoe
That’s what I like to do

P-p-p-p-p-p-portmanteau
One will come to me from out of the blue
But never ever when I want it to
The curse of portmanteau

I’ve decided to try Jazzercise
I’m just attempting to reduce my thighs
I take an awful ribbing from the guys
“Do you wear Jeggings, too?”

I try to use a new one everyday
I really don’t care what the linguists say
They put the “F” in Fugly anyway
Oh yes, you know it’s true

That’s why I’m going to Portmanteau
It’s something that I really like to do
I feel a touch of Deja vu
Been here a time or two

P-p-p-p-p-p-portmanteau
And for those of you who don’t have a clue
Try to make one good word out of two
To make one good word out of two
To make one good word out of two
And that’s a portmanteau

It's been a while since I saw something this good in the "grammar education" subgenre, seriously man, this is a really good one, if it was mine I'd run it in the SOTM of November when that time comes!

Thanks, I realy appreciate the compliment. I'm not even sure I would know how to go about submitting it. Thanks again and thank you too John.

(SOTM) Welcome to SOTM, Onslaught, although it seems like this might be the last one. I love parodies that play on the English language (see my "Virtual Profanity" for example). This bugged me, though that since the official pronunciation of the word is "port-man-toe"--not "port-man-too"--it was rather confusing trying to figure out just how you were intending to pronounce the other words in the verses! It was fun, though, and I wuill try to read some of your other stuff later. 5 for pacing, 5 for funny, 4 for Overall (due to that issue)

Great work! A lot of good examples (I personally love the word fugly, myself haha) and the pacing seemed to be pretty okay to me. Hope you enter more competitions!

What can be described as a mix of everything.

(SOTM) Mispronunciation of the titular word aside, this was a fantastic parody for a new guy. I need to find excuses to use the phrase "linguistic glue", it really rolls off the tongue. 555!

(SOTM) Welcome to the competition circuit Onslaught! Though this one mught be ending, please look into entering the other we have going. Mispronunciation aside (I had no idea of the correct pronunciation), I enjoyed this a lot. It almost read like a Seuss book, and I adore Dr. Seuss! So, for that alone, I liked it!

This was a very educational parody! Almost a bit like a modern day School House Rock although it's of a 70s song so maybe it's just a regular School House Rock. Either way it was a lot of fun and can be almost as much of a classic as "I'm Just A Bill"

I have been wanting to do this one for a long time, and the time seemed right. As for the pronunciation of the word... I claim poetic license. ;-)

I give this an award of "Thrives" (portmanteau of three fives -- ya think?)
