The Lyrics

For any non-drivers reading this, Truvelo is a make of speed camera, (not quite as common as the Gatso)
Long ago
On the North Circ'lar near Walthamstow
Trapped by a speed camera, Truvelo
Couldn't be right 'bout the speed I go
Letter came
Telling me to play their little game
Saying that I had to give a name
Name of the driver who is to blame

Errors in calibration
Causing misinformation
Truvelo
Calling the police station
Wanting an explanation
Truvelo

I said they must be thick
To say I went so quick
They said there is no doubt
It can't be that far out
I told them all along
That something *must* be wrong,
Understand?

Long ago
In a court session in Walthamstow
Discussing data from Truvelo
With lawyers and judges, police and co.

Then at my instigation
Went for recalibration
Truvelo
Police prevarication
Delayed adjudication
Truvelo.

They said it wasn't wrong
My case was not that strong
I told 'em their speed trap
Was undiluted crap
They fin'ly did admit
That it might be a bit
Out of hand

Finally got retraction
Of silly legal action
Truvelo
Once they'd determination
[Of] my mode of transportation:
Mon velo.

My legs don't have the power
For ninety miles an hour
Policemen didn't like
That I was on my bike
The pictures that they took
Showed someone'd cooked the books
Underhand...

Long ago
On the North Circ'lar near Walthamstow
Vandalized speed camera, Truvelo...

...please, no comments about them not being able to find (or fine) a cyclist given that a bicycle doesn't have a number plate. I know, but why let the facts get in the way of a parody?

Thanks for explaining "Truvelo"; now, who is Angelo and who are "The Brotherhood of Man"? ... must be a UK thing.... Even with NKTOS, very, very funny send-up of a scary Orwellian trend. Loved the ending twist; apology wasn't needed. You're doing 555 in a 333 zone here, Mister :)

The Brotherhood of Man were a 70s quartet who won the Eurovision Song Contest with "Save you kisses for me" - must admit that I don't really know the OS for this one, either: it's the Barron Knights' "Ann'n'Joe" parody that I am more familiar with:
Long ago, outside a chip shop in Walthamstow
Lived a young punk rocker, Greasy Joe
Who put on his helmet and said "Let's go"
He was keen, went down the high street like Barry Sheen
Trying his best to look very mean
Till he saw Ann on a new machine
...or something like that. But I could only find a copy of the OS.
Incidentally, although I've not been flashed by a speeding camera while cycling, I have been pulled over by the police for speeding on a bicycle (I asked 'em why they didn't stop any of the cars who were overtaking me...)
