The Lyrics

Newest commercials--"It's not your FAULT you're fat! Your body secretes hormones that cause you to store fat in the belly and hips..."See? IT'S NOT MY FAULT!
I'm Just Getting Fat

In the morning I have grits and biscuits,
sausage, coffee cake and honey buns.
Then at lunch it's pizza and spaghetti,
shoveled down by the tons.
Supper brings on the pork chops and the baked potato,
candied yams and sugar loaded tea,
pie al la mode with a wedge of cheddar,
hardly satisfies me.
I'm just getting fat.

They know me down at Dunkin' Donuts,
Wonderburger, and the Taco Bell.
I try to eat more salads, but my cholest'rol's
really shot to hell.
At the cookie stalls in suburban malls
buying Snickerdoodles by the score.
And then I hit the pretzel stand,
and still I'm cravin' more.
I'm just getting fat.

Even salad bars can get me.
I can't stick to the carrots and greens.
Croutons, creamy dressings, and macaroni
load my plate with even more calories.
I'm just getting fat.

Some day I'll have to call Weight Watchers,
Buy a membership and hit the gym.
I'm sure I could interest Richards Simmons,
but I couldn't stand him.
Oh, the Slim Fast shakes could be what it takes
to get me down another size.
If all else fails there's Jenny Craig,
'cause I've finally realized--
I'm just getting fat.

WOW - The original song is very subtle and full of intricate pacing - and Miss Mozell, congratulations - you have written a beautiful and graceful parody here!

Hey people, come on over here - check this one out! It is truly AWESOME. 5-5-5 !

( P.S. The original song is by Al Stewart, not Cat Stevens .... but who cares? This parody ROCKS ! )

'Scuse me, Miss Moz*, but you are very good at this parody racket. 5-5-5. * Play on Title of song by "The West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band" circa mid-1960's, " 'Scuse Me, Miss Rose". Anyone here familiar at all with "WCPAEB" ? They were a pretty good, if somewhat strange group and did a few rather interesting albums. Yes, Johnny D, another excellent "recommend" here, you have an excellent eye for talent, as well as excellent eyes for innuendo-laden sexual, scatalogical, proctological, gastronomical, transexual, pre-nuptial, post-coital, and, for all I know necrophilial parody subjects. Boy, you sure got a lot of eyes, Johnny D...
