Nice one, Guy. As I said before, the way to make a good political parody is to pick on both sides. Even when you say "while the other needs a brain," you don't specify which one, leaving to the reader to decide.

Good summary of the debate. McCain is still clearly preferable to Obama, but he said several things, including the mortgage buyout proposal, that disappointed me.

Gosh, I misread the OS title and starting reading this...and I'm going, "What the heck happened to Guy? He used to be consistently 98%+ writing to pace, but this thing doesn't match at all." - And then I scrolled up to check the title again...uh...no, the OS WASN'T "Who'll Stop The Rain?" I guess that's why it wasn't working for me. Anyway, my brain appears to be showing similarity to a slice of swiss-cheese and I absolutely can't conjure up the way the opening lyrics to this OS sound, so I just can't evaluate the technical quality. Anyway, the specifics of the debate were exactly what you should have all expected considering each of the candidates and all the events that have occurred that inevitably shape how each candidate approaches their performance. Did any of you really expect either candidate to have a ready-to-roll package of ideas on how to fix the economy? Christ, it's only been a couple weeks or so since Paulson strutted into Congress with a 3-page essay on "Why I should be the One-and-Only Emperor of American Finance" and gravely informed Congress that if they didn't hand him the sceptor by the end of the weekend we faced certain ruin. Between craven, cynical, clueless and stupid, we find ourselves in an incredible pickle being asked to choose from a handful of untested ideas from basically the same schmoes who got us into this mess in the first place. Thanks a lot, you know? Anyway, I agree that the major political parties have both fallen far short of the mark, but I do not see a total equivalency in this equation. The Republican Party has taken incompetence, cronyism, no-nothing-ism, lapel-pin patriotism, cynical wedge-issue election strategy, to new and never before achieved, or for that matter never before even CONCEIVED levels. So clearly the solution is NOT to toss out everyone from both parties. Anyway, it ain't gonna happen...end of conversation...thank you very much for playing, OK? Repeat: However satisfying it would be to watch each and every member of Congress unceremoniously grabbed by the scruff of their neck and drop-kicked over the Lincoln Memorial IT AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN. So we have some choices to make, and if you really think holding your breath until you turn blue or having a tantrum will bring forth a better brand of leaders and representative, well, you have my blessing...Good luck. Those of us that care would prefer making the best of a crappy situation that for the most part we had little or nothing to do with creating will weigh the available candidates with the knowledge that many of them served us poorly...and try to avoid voting for the ones we think cannot or will not try to do better by us. If you're voting for someone just because you want your particular party to wield power don't be surprised if you end up with some Wide-Stance Weasel posturing his Public Consumption Values when he (or she) ought to be sitting down at a table with the guys from the other side and trying to work out something at least minimally feasible to keep our Ship of State from turning into a Garbage Scow. So go ahead and vent...you're entitled...the one sure thing about this mess that no one should argue with is that we got screwed. When you're down with your venting try and support a candidate that has something to offer other than lame and stupid smears and clumsy pandering to the lowest and most crippling facets and traits of human nature. Me? I'm actually quite pleased to have the opportunity to vote for Mr. Barack Obama. I don't know if he can deliver us from the mess we're in, but I'm confident he will do his best and that he will be open to constructive ideas and be able to process them in his mind. He actually seems one of the most capable candidates for President this country has seen in quite some time. I think he has the capacity for growth in areas where his experience is less than optimum. He is clearly intelligent and has shown impressive leadership qualities in assembling his campaign team. Like them or not, they had a plan and were able to implement it effectively through a very difficult Primary campaign - you might recall he defeated an opponent that was considered 'inevitable" not that long ago. That ability alone puts him head and shoulders above his opponent in my book. You're not gonna believe this, but I actually shortened this comment quite a bit before posting...lol...

Omigod! How we get so worked up about politics. Well, maybe the American people will learn a lesson from the last fiasco and use their minds when they vote.
