Song Parodies -> "Storm, Stop the Rain"

Original Song Title:

"Who'll Stop the Rain"

 (MP3)
Original Performer:

Creedence Clearwater Revival

Parody Song Title:

"Storm, Stop the Rain"

Parody Written by:

Below Average Dave

The Lyrics

I'm at badave.com and soundclick.com/badave.

If Storm were to get really, really upset. . .how would she respond? The characters below are popular X-Men, including the main character "Storm", it doesn't take an X-Men addict to get the song though:)
What's up with the weather
there's snow inside our home
Vortex in the kitchen
Wind blew down the gnomes
From her eyes is lightning
'cause "Storm" don't need a gun
Man she's angry, oh so cranky
"Storm", STOP THE RAIN!!!

She had caught her boyfriend
In Mystique's blue arms
Now we hope "Storm's" heart mends
As rivers over-flow
The forecasted conditions
Said not a chance of rain
Here comes thunder, and I wonder
Is Storm insane?

Nightcrawler is praying
Rogue ran for the door
We all want to help her
So we don't all drown
Xavier must be snoring
Please get in her brain
Make her slumber, Make her humbler
"Storm" stop the rain

So will the others weather Storm's weather? There's no raft and the woman's stormed.

Fine write here Dave. So glad you picked CCR for this round of Art. One of favorite bands to write parody on. I actually know every OS of the parodies in this round. Three F5 twisters coming attcha.

Lightning stikes you five times on this clever parody!

Average with a chance of better pacing.

I'm not into X-Men, but I like the parody.

I've read and seen X-Men; this is a good take on the characters and nicely done.

I've written 43 CCR parodies and five of them use the OS "Who'll Stop the Rain?" I've read and reread Dave's parody and it paces, scans and times flawlessly. It works well for a read and it appears to be right for recording. I don't know how BAD could better pace this one. I wouldn't say this if I did not know the OS inside out. This is definately a high 5 on pace scoring.

Not an X-Men fan, but great parody, and it's raining 5s with a chance of a Song of the Month victory. (not that I'm voting or anything, but I know that you enter that contest regularly and that you are ther Parody Contests moderator on the messageboard.

Storm is one of my fave X-Men characters next to Rogue and Jubilee. X-Men brings back lots of memories. Anyways, here's today's weather report: Chance of rain coming at 55.5%. Northwest winds at 555 mph.

I failed to read the above comments and don't tend to keep up with contests, so I am correcting my above "forecast" to "raining 5s with a chance of victory in Artistry: Creedence Clearwater Revival".

Thank you everybody, I had a lot of fun with this one, I'm glad you guys enjoyed it.

Guy, thank you for bringing that up.(Honestly I was scratching my head earlier a bit, I didn't have any trouble pacing it myself, I'm glad I'm not the only one:))

Christie Marie M: Mine also, I love Rogue and Jubilee, and well--X-Men in general, thanks:)

BAD - Could you see your way to having more older artists for the Artistry comps? So far I've only been able to get into three of these and that was The Beatles, Blondie and CCR. I had to write parody for Blondie but I know that group and the music well enough. You know how hopelessly stuck I am on the oldies.

The Artistry competition is based on a list of 123 nominated artists back when I had the original idea for Artistry and posted asking for nominations. What I did was take the 123 artists, and added 17 additional artists that I felt were popular enough to warrant rounds to make a 140 round competition. A song by each of those 140 artists were then added to a playlist in my Media Player and each artist is drawn randomly from said list, which is how sometimes an artist I've never heard of gets drawn. The 17 additional artists are secret rounds, several of which have already taken place, but I'll send the original list to you so you can see the other artists that will eventually be drawn. I wish you had been there during the nomination process, it was open to everybody--but at the time you weren't around the boards, but hopefully when you see the whole list you'll see many other artists you enjoy. I've sort of taken it upon myself to do every round to expand my love for music into artists I have never heard of, never given serious thought to or simply didn't like. The Artistry competition has helped me to realize many artists I previously didn't really think were that great like "The Styx" and "Creedence Clearwater Revival" were actually fun bands that had done many songs I enjoy and just didn't realize they had done them. . .several more to come I'm sure. It's also introduced me to bands like "The Skyhooks", "Suzi Quatro" and "Paper Lace" that I have never heard of at all before the contest, some I like, some I don't--but it's fun to take on the many different artists that people came up with--it's a mammoth list thought, I bet there are a lot of ones left that you are hopeful for.

Dave - You do a lot for this site on the messageboard. Thanks for your service and thanks for explaining to me the corporate knowledge of Artistry. I will compete when I can and I will try to take your advice of learning about artists I've never heard of - no promises though. I fear moving out of my comfort zone but maybe it wouldn't hurt me to expand my horizons. My problem is time to devote to listening to new stuff and getting that special feel for writing a sensible piece on it. Much appreciate your info and advice. Youo're a good guy, Dave.

(Artistry) You should put this on YouTube with selected X-Men clips. But now we know why weathermen can never get their forecasts right. Fun idea well done.

I'm a geek and love X-men and the like. Fun story in the song. Some good references. There's a 55.5% chance of Storm freaking out today.

(Artistry) Lightning does strike twice on this second read, once again right on the mark!
Matthias - August 23, 2009 - Report this comment
Are you still going to do "It's Raining, Storm"? Since you've done this one? Cause that idea sounds pretty awesome as well.

(Artistry) Short, but sweet. Great idea, nice nods to the other X-Men, and kudos on not working in the overused-but-still-somehow-awesome Wolverine. 555 for you, sir!
Below Average Dave - August 25, 2009 - Report this comment
Thanks Everyone. .

Matthias: I don't know, I'm seriously considering it just because the idea is kinda out there--and you know me and crazy.

Conqueror: I know, right? I like Wolverine, but seriously, Storm, Mystique, Magneto, Rogue, Jubilee, Nightcrawler and many others are just as awesome and never get their due

I do so badly on movie parodies - even though I've seen X-Men, only Storm and Xavier ring bells. Great pacing as always, and I agree with Rex - if you record this, a video to go with it would be awesome.
