"Who'll Stop That Train?"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Long as I remember, that train's been rumbling on
Making noise in midnight, screaming as it's gone
When it's me the bedtime, sleep I can get none -
And I wonder, still I wonder:
Who'll stop that train?

I went down in basement, seeking shelter from that noise
Caught up in vibration, depriving sleep its joys
Stuff on shells kept falling, with sound that me annoys
And I wonder, still I wonder:
Who'll stop that train?

Hear that train a-rumbling, shrieking whistle as it's gone
I know the freight must go on, delivery must be done
Yet I pray God in heaven, for sleep hour just one
And I wonder, still I wonder:
Who'll stop that train?

My wife appreciates train parodies like this. She's a light sleeper. (not the train) The train is a freighter. We overlook the train depot or something...

I live three blocks from the a station on the Amtrak/New Jersey Transit Northeast Corridor. I don't mind the trains or their horns in the middle of the night. It's when I'm trying to hear what's on TV and they blow their horns in the middle of a good joke or a politician's point that I get mad.

I can totally relate to this song. When I was a kid, one house I lived in was right across the street from railroad tracks. Even worse, my bedroom window faced the tracks, so that the orange flashing light was casting an eerie glow in the room. Good parody, fives all around.
