"Lamb Pie"

The Lyrics

Using the original Fleetwood Mac version off the 1970's album (the one before "Rumours", I believe) here.
(Instrumental intro)

I had a lamb, I put it down
Cleaned it up and I cooked 'til brown
Then I made me a lamb pie and I sure ate my fill
Yeah, that lamb pie went right down

Too bad she had to die, life sure is tough
'Cause lamb pie always is real tasty stuff
Not like quail, which is on the gamey side
Nor like pork, which leaves all that grease when fried
No, oh, oh, oh, oh, no

Well, killing my lamb was strange
but I knew that she'd make good food
And though I did love her
she sure made a good supper
I still had enough for stew

(Instrumental break)

Yeah, killing my lamb felt strange
but she sure made a tasty stew
And though I felt remorse
That lamb made a great main course
I belched loud when I was through

Oh, killed my lamb, made her die
Oh, then I put her in a lamb pie
With my conscience; might wrestle
but my stomach is filled
Now I'll knock a few beers down
And if I get indigestion
from that lamb that I killed
maybe next time I'll use ground round
Yeah, the next time I'll use ground round

Agnus diet. A delectable parody. If I recall correctly, Terry Southern had a whole other meaning in mind for the term "lamb pie" in Candy.

Oops! It appears I've touched a nerve in the "Animal Protection League". Should have put a "pre-comment" in that "No lambs were slaughtered or consumed during the creation or posting of this parody." Hey, I didn't really kill and eat a lamb - hell, I don't even own one...

alvin - LOL!! You know, I hadn't even considered that facet to this parody - that REALLY puts the proper seasoning on top of this number!! "Baaa--aaahh, took my lamb, hacked him up / Yaaa-aah, added marinade, half-a -cup..."

I agree with Alvin. Imagining Stevie singing it makes it twice as funny. I esp. liked Oh, killed my lamb, made her die Oh, then I put her in a lamb pie that's perfect

Thanks, Stuart...that image really is the mint jelly to top off the number, isn't it?
