The Lyrics

Not to be confused with the Hobbits' take on the same song which you can find here, this one's from personal experience...
Listen to the drains go
Watch the loo rise
Going to overflow
Damn it's blocked, damn the flies

No! No you can't flush it now
You should wait 'til we've cleared the drain
It's so near overflowing
You should never pull the chain (never pull the chain)
So no, please don't flush it now
And I won't tell you again
Oh now it's overflowing
I said never pull the chain (never pull the chain)

Listen to the flush go
Up comes the shite
Running t'ward the window
Round the bath, round the light

Flushed the toilet
Damn that was damn unwise

I said no don't flush it now
'Cause we still ain't cleared the drain
Here it comes, overflowing
I said never pull the chain (never pull the chain)
Too late, you've flushed it now
But no, don't flush it again
Here's effluvia flowing
I said never pull the chain (never pull the chain)

Dum... da da da da da dadada.. squelch
Du-um... da da da da da dadada.. squelch

Dra-a-ain overflowing
Running on the carpet
Dra-a-ain overflowing
Yuck! It's on the carpet

Ha! 5s....Phil, I looked at this CD this morning to see if anything jumped out at me. Nothing did. Clearly, it overflowed with ideas for you though. Great job!

Phil, it happens that I listened to "Rumors" this past weekend - I have it on an old cassette tape I made off the vinyl LP back in 1979. Amazing to me how well the quality of those old cassettes has held up. I always rewound them to make sure there was no slop or slack and I only used the top-quality Maxell brand. I notice when I compare them to later-made cassette tapes that those Maxell's had much sturdier construction as well. Some of the songs sound better than they do on the CD versions I have, at least to me, maybe because I recorded them with the treble boosted a bit and the volume up, but not into the "red". Brighter sound... A great album and you did a great job with "The Chain". Pulling the voting "Chain" here and bringing down three 5's on this one ~ ~ ~

I've recently had "Rumours" on in the car, too: evidently Bart was singing "Don't Stop" in a recent Simpsons, so I put the CD in so that the kiddies could hear the original. There may be another one or two from there coming in the not too distant future...
