The Lyrics

The USA's border with Mexico is being flooded by migrants from Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras. A 2008 law aimed at sex-trafficking gives non-Mexicans special rights to delay repatriation. President Obama's executive order to reprieve deportations of children brought in by their parents has spurred many to make the long journey and surrender to border agents. Here I imagine the dreams of one such youth, using this song about an aspiring entertainer as a template.
Start heading to Hous-
ton; I'm leaving today.
I want to be a part of that
New U. S. A.

These ragged old shoes
Say they're longing to stray
Right through the scary heart of that
Meh-hee-co Way.

I want to quake and win that pity
As lib'rals weep,
And find I'm legal until
Whoppers come cheap! [1]

My Central Am. blues
Will be melting away.
I'm gonna take a stand to smartly sit
In U. S. A.

If I can fake it there,
I'll make it on welfare [2]
That comes from you
Few dorks who work!

[1] I buy fast food at Burger King only with BOGO coupons. "When pigs fly" didn't fit TOS.
[2] I don't mean the adult welfare programs, but free schooling and meals, etc.

Houston is not near the border, but it took many refugees from Hurricanes Katrina and Rita nearly 9 years ago, and likely has been receiving its "fair share" of DHS's sneaky dispersion of current migrants ("Start spreading the hues."). Tucson, long a traffic route, would also fit if similarly hyphenated.
