Parody Song Title:

"Green-Leaver"

Parody Written by:

John A. Barry

The Lyrics

I’ve just stoked my pipe again;
high I’ll be: green-leaver domain.
Wired was I in days when I was a Type A.
But I expanded my mind.

So, green-leaver
I have become; now I ain’t so uptight.
Slow green-leaver—
time lags now, and I can’t trust my eyesight.

My, I’m high! And I’m scarfing pies;
tastiest are apple, plain.
Noshed the pie ’way—a panoply
of pan dulce I’ll next attain.

For a dog I will make the room
with some slaw on the side.
Fries are in play, as are bite-size macaroons
I eat shooters, and down they slide.

Oh, feed fever:
filling my tummy with food day and night.
So, meat cleaver
on chops I’ll gobble. . . pants expand, too tight!

Oh, seam-cleaver. . . .

Don't you mean "leafer" there? A leaver is one who makes like a tree and leaves. A leafer is one who smokes some leaf... that doesn't come from trees.

Do you DARE question the craft of the Great and Powerful Barry, Technically? It is a thing not done here at Amiright. At most, you are permitted to approach him on bended knee with a suggestion, as I did yesterday. And every so often the Great and Powerful Wizard of Subs will favor you by taking up your suggestion .. as has happened here

Nice addition today to pair with yesterday's Leaver.

Say, wasn't there a sequel to "Leave it to Beaver" where Jerry Mathers played a pothead, which was called "Beaver to Leaver" You know, the one where Eddie Haskell plays the dope dealer and Wally says things like, "Gosh Beeve, if Dad catches you smoking that s&*t, he's really gonna give you the business. Now cut it out before I have to slug you one."

LOL, Lennie. Tech: In light of the OS title, I opted for a voiced labio-dental fricative rather than a voiceless labio-dental fricative.
Peregri - November 21, 2014 - Report this comment
"labio-dental fricative" sounds like something to do with OS, and I am not talking about 'Original Song'...

You know, JAB, when I labio-dentally fricate my wife, I tend towards voicelessness (while she tends to get fully voiced, nyuk nyuk)... but what in the hell does that have to do with choosing a "V" over an "F" when spelling "weaver."

Hey, Peregrin I just got your joke. How did you like my subtle image about Curly of the Three Stooges doing the "Oral Shuffle."
John Barry - November 22, 2014 - Report this comment
Lennie, V, as in leave, is a voiced LDF; F, as in leaf, is a voiceless LDF. I also just got the OS joke.
Peregrin - November 22, 2014 - Report this comment
Lennie, I can honestly say I have never thought about any of the Stooges and OS prior to now. And I wish I still hadn't! (Lays on side and runs in coicles...)

Bringing new meaning to the expression "turning over a new leaf,,,"
