The Lyrics

There have been too many fine parodies of this OS to mention, but OS is waaaaaay too sad -- I've been Chapin' at the bit for a long time to lighten it up a little myself. OS lyrics here. Midi here.
A Turtle arrived just the other day
He came to this site in the usual way:
By the click of a mouse, then he hit "OK"
Then finds he can't tear himself away
And he was writin' 'fore he knew it
Without a clue
They said, "He's gotta be cuc-koo, man
"We know he's gotta be cuc-koo"

He's got bats in his belfry and a pilfered tune
Wit annoy, too; written by a baboon
"When you gettin' smart, Tom?" "I don't know when"
"Get s**t more together then, son
"It might take forever, then "

He posts songs: ten, on his n00bie day [1]
He's amazed how in droves, they all stay away
"Can you take me in tow?" They said, "Not today"
'You got a lot to learn." He said, "That's okay"
And he crawled away, with his head full of phlegm
Said, "I'm gonna be like them, yeah"
"I know I'm gonna be like them"

He's got bats in his belfry and a corny croon
Little boy blew OS on a bassoon
"When you gettin' smart, Tom?" "I don't know when"
But nerd nest he'll feather then, Hon
Bird turd nest he'll feather then

Well, he posts a tribute almost ev'ry day
To all AmIRight, he just loves to say,
"I'm in rowdy mood; take my s**t for a while"
He tucks his head in his shell with a smile
"What I wanna write: sex, kinky; scoring some coke keys;
Female hygiene: "Got a tampon, please?"

He's got bats in his belfry; brain of slivered prune
Typin' out tunes to a too-hairy moon
"When you gettin' smart, Tom?" "I don't know when
"We're Hell-bent for leather, then: fun [2]
"Our favorite 'region': 'nether,' men!" [3]

He's now alcoholic; liver rotting away
Makes "Brokenback" parodies, so gay
His health has gone to "pot"; "blot" out half his mind
He doesn't do real work; he hasn't got the time
So, from his job, he got fired; and got STDs, too
But it's sure fun here in this zoo, yeah,
It's pure pun: poo in the loo [4]

And as they put down their mice, it occurred to them:
The Turtle's just like them, yeah,
The Turtle's just like them

He's got bats in his belfry and a dildoed poon
Little joy: porn; 'stead of sex, silly swoon
"When you gettin' smart, Tom?" "I don't know when"
Eyes "lock: leer" at Heather, then: bun [5]
His pea-cock: leer at Heather, then!

[1] 30 January 2006, a day that will live in infamy
[2] A phrase from the OS to which it is linked
[3] "nether" = lower; "nether regions" = cheap porn slang for the lower private body parts, usually of the female.
[4] "poo"/"loo": refers to 10,000+ gaseous or "poop-ous" parodies on this site.
[5] Every time I saw Heather Locklear on "Melrose Place," my Mel rose.

I am, this morning, reading, it's W-A-C-K, but it made me laugh a bit, and that is why I play. The bright good-morning song, looks like you got away clean. Feel up score, it is three fives, adds up to fifteen.
carol - April 17, 2006 - Report this comment
wonderful parody to start my day with 555
Adagio - April 17, 2006 - Report this comment
Fly in the ointment here. Very good, cheery parody, but aren't all these tributes you say you write about you? Except for maybe 5 of then. 5-4-5
Agrimorfee - April 17, 2006 - Report this comment
TT beginning to branch out into weirdness. Fine by me. 455

Michael Pacholek, carol, Agrimorfee, alvin rhodes, AFW (cool spinoff idea; go for it, man), PMS, thanks.

Adagio, your wish is my command, at least this once. Check this space tomorrow, CG willing.

Glad you let this cat out of the bag. 555

Great parody, TT, 555. To the other Johnny D --- welcome to AmIRight! My name is John Small, and I've been posting on AmIRight under my pen-name Johnny D since September 8, 2003. Please introduce yourself to everybody --- it's great to meet new people!

555 Great play off the OS. Top notch, TT
Turtle of Much Warmer Water Than Mass. - April 17, 2006 - Report this comment
"Johnny D", Rick C, John Small/Johnny D the First, Dee Range, thanks.... JS/FJD, I think that's someone's reference to the claim elsewhere that I am you and you are I and we are we and we are the Walrus, rather than the Turtle... hey, that's not a bad parody idea, and you can have it.... go for it!
Adagio - April 17, 2006 - Report this comment
Tommy...u said "Adagio, your wish is my command, at least this once. Check this space tomorrow, CG willing." I hope not just me, because tributes are meaningless unless it's your idea to begin with. I meant that I hadn't seen you give anyone else a tribute lately to ANYONE else.

Click "pot" and "blot" in the parody.
TTribute - April 17, 2006 - Report this comment
Adagio, you've earned a tribute. I enjoy a lot of your stuff. I looked at a half dozen of your songs and found plenty of material to do the tribute easily, in about twenty minutes plus formatting. CG has me rationed on tributes. I had fully intended, and still intend, to pay tribute eventually to each friend here. In a private correspondence, though, CG told me that he doesn't want a steady diet of songs about each other, either attacks or inside jokes. I figure that trashing oneself is often welcome and funny, and if you tell a story that anyone can follow without knowing the characters, that might be OK. Hope you like yours, and believe me, I was going to do one sooner or later anyway.
btw, after I had been on this site two weeks, I did a three-volume tribute in one day to 17 AmIRighters, including yourself.

Out there idea and the self-deprecation was great too.

Pretty clever bats in that belfry if you ask me. Enjoyed this!

I like it, TT: well-written as usual... and has highlighted that links in parody text now work (IIRC they used to be stripped out, but I know Chucky's changed the submission script for one or two other things... obviously links are in now :-) )
TT - April 18, 2006 - Report this comment
Red Ant, Larry Hensley, Rex, thanks. Phil Alexander, thanks; as others have observed, I'm a footnote-abuser; I think links are much neater on the page and even easier to ignore than the footnotes :)

Thomas! How far you have come! Posssssible dubious pacing on word 2, but the OS does drag it out. I think, a stern talking to from the referee will suffice in this case, lol :)

I even see a specific reverse reference to something we quoted back at you in "Tommy". This leaves you with a quandary, doesn't it? Whether you know to which I refer, or do you have to read it again?
Tommy Turtle - September 20, 2012 - Report this comment
Peregrin, with my memory being in about the same condition as yours (as per your comment @ "Totally Slips Off The Chart"), I can't even remember my own songs, much less anyone else's.

Only thing that jumped out was the common ref in both to the female hygiene parody. Sorry, but I was up awfully early for the event described in e-mail, so feeling even duller than usual. What did I miss? -- and thanks for read and comment!

Peregrin: So, I was right. Put that in your pipe and tamp on it!
