The Lyrics

I wrote this half-hearted and tongue in cheek. Harry wouldn't like this very much.
Obama won just the other day
There was hope for a change since the Dems held sway.
But there were wars to fight and debts to pay
Wall Street bailouts and B of A.
And then Congress got to fightin', as we knew it would,
So we knew that change would take a long time,
We knew that it would take more time.

And Barack's in the White House; Pelosi rules;
Bohner and Palin both sound like fools.
When will Congress grow up? We don't know when.
But we'll get some changes through then
You know we'll have some good change then

The term turned one just the other day,
Acrimony and gridlock rule the day.
Hopes for progress and compromise fade away.
There's so much to do, but red states say nay.
And Barack got angry but his smile never dimmed
At all, "I'll do what I have to do, yeah
I'll do what'er it takes to win"

And Barack's in the White House; Pelosi rules
Cheney and Rush are still loud mouth fools.
Will left and right compromise? Don't hold your breath.
The left never listens, they're stone cold deaf.
While the right plans to talk ev'ry bill to death.

Well, the health care vote came the other day,
Mostly Libs said yes, every Con said nay
Well he's done it now, was it worth the wait?"
The talking heads stoke non-stop debate.
Will it really work well, is it what we need,
Or will it break the bank and still not succeed?"

And Barack's in the White House; Pelosi rules;
Tea Parties spring up to herd old fools.
There will be revolt, I just don't know when,
Taxes all go up, only morals fall;
But bills are coming due for all.

I've long since resigned to reality,
I doubt what I read, even what I see.
With the mid term elections coming soon,
Republicans see victory, while the dems see gloom.
But all they do is argue, all we get is doom,
We're in the ever widening gyre.
The best have naught to which aspire.

And as I turned off the tube it occurred to me
Barack was just like Bush
He'd morphed into a Bush.

And Barack's in the White House; but Wall Street rules,
Presidents are nothing more than rich men's tools.
When's that change acoming - we're all the fools.
And now we know there'll be no change, folks,
We know that nothing's gonna change.

Good work, Rich. Unfortunately the One-Bomber (a future federal agency) doesn't understand "tongue in cheek". 5-5-5 from me anyway. ;D

I just finished listening to a parody of this song (eating cat at a Chinese restaurant). This one is very well written and oh, so true! It's not listed in the Constitution, but the one power the President always seems to have is the power to disappoint. As long as most people have too much to eat, a real revolution is unlikely.

Economy back on track, health care reform signed into law... Change is already well underway. But some credit for pointing out the Republicans' failure.
