The Lyrics

Doesnt' look this great Original Song has ever been used on this site before. "Greasy Heart" has been one of my favorite songs since I first heard it 35 years ago. In fact, the entire "Crown of Creation" album has been one of my favorite albums ever since I first heard it back then. Hope you enjoy this piece...
Lately, I am fasting; husband asks me, "How come"
I have gotten too wide; I am too damn plump
I have gotten way too big; being fat annoys

Lately eating too much fried and oh-so-fattening food
Lips smack upon the sight then I begin to drool
Creamy sauces that taste great - I just can't wait
Salad dressing poured on high; that's no way to lose that weight

Fat you'll remain, lady, you won't lose no weight
Because you just ate some spare ribs, you devoured them like a pig
You chug-a-lugged your soft drink; got a hot dog on a stick
You cannot pass up pastries; your resistance is low
You're getting big now as a cow; hope your fat-ass don't show

You won't lose weight that way; there's no way you can
"Cause you enjoy your mayonnaise-dip; got potato chips in hand
Tub-fulls of butter; and sweet fruit jam
Know that stuff clogs-up your heart; eat all that you can

You won't lose weight that way; and now you're eating spam
You won't lose weight that way; try some of this lamb
Your weight; it now inspires "hog" calls
You do not fit in toilet stalls

I can't wait to get home and pull out the vinyl so I can sing it with the new words. The last line cracked me up!

Thanks alvin & Ravyn - Yeah, fine album from that era...Ravyn, I'm no Grace Slick (an understatement if there ever was one - in oh-so-many ways...), but it sure was a lot of fun to sing along to. Got the vinyl LP still, huh? Good for you....I've got it, but my turntable has a bad channel so I don't even have it set up out here. I did time & sing it to a cassette tape copy I made off the vinyl back in about 1979...I guess I wanted a little vinyl noise to put me back in the spirit of that era while working on this one...That makes two songs from that album I've been able to do something with parody-wise ("Lather" became "Blather")...gonna look at some of the others because I enjoy playing them...making new pieces out of them by fooling around with the words kind of makes them feel new and fresh again to me...

AFW & Rick C - Thanks! Rick - let's see...bought it when it came out (1970) and somehow lost track of it...hmmm...1970....hmmm....I wonder how that could possibly have happened??? ~ ~ ~

I know I'm dating myself here, but yes, I still have my vinyl. In fact, I've been hauling my vinyl around for at least ten moves in two decades. Kinda scary...My turntable still works, too, but it's getting harder and harder to find needles for it. "Crown of Creation" still rocks, on or off vinyl!

Ravyn - Yes...(sigh)...the Vinyl...I found mine, too...seems a case of nostalgia crept in after I read your comment...I have perhaps a hundred, maybe more, vinyl albums stacked away in various places in my apartment...I probably will never play any of them again...Most of the ones that have stuff on them that I consider "essential" or just really wanted to be able to always hear I copied to cassette tapes back around 1978-1981 - sometimes I did entire albums, other times just selected tracks. Those cassettes have held up very, very well through the passage of time - I took great pains to keep them wound tight and out of light, heat or moisture. I was so thrilled when Tape Decks that you could record on came out and became affordable. Years before I had searched in vain for a way to copy a vinyl LP that was out of print...John Stewart's (formerly of the Kingston Trio) "Signals Through The Glass", which he did with his eventual wife, Buffy Ford. Someone I knew had a copy that they offered to lend me if I could get a copy made somehow...At the time (early 1970's) the only way would have been to have an acetate burned...which would be expensive and would deteriorate rapidly after a few playings...I never was able to get that album back then...Now...I just happened to find it while browsing on the web a year or so ago...it had JUST a month or two before become available in CD format...so NOW I have it...and many other albums...in THREE different formats...well, to me that's better than none...Thanks for stirring up the memory banks...pretty soon I'll be telling you about how far I walked to school and back every day...uphill both ways, too...
