The Lyrics

As some of you know, I've been off the circuit since early May. Took a short hiatus but I'm back for a while. Hey what happened to all my voting stats? Really, I just found that the joy was going out of the writing and that is the real reason that I write, not the votes and certainly not the notoriaty although I do like controversy. Anyway I'm back for a while and I decided to lead off with a song about myself to kind of break the ice.
Took me a short break, back for a re-take,
Back on the tour list, writing in toil,
Back on the upswing, still a bit right wing,
Fresh and primp, I'm back burnin' the oil.

Writing the way that Guy DiRito feels,
Searchin' for something good to assault,
So back I came, for some more of the same,
Now I'm back, I'm done pounding salt.

Don't know the reason,
I wrote for a season,
I wrote things you know,
You thought were taboo.
But I did my duty, and wrote about booty,
I used the word queer, and how the fur flew.

Pacing away again in Guy DiRito-ville,
Searchin' for something good to assault,
So back I came, for some more of the same,
Then I thought, well, I'm done pounding salt.

---- Instrumental Interlude ----

I hope this song don't flop,
I still don't like hip-hop.
Startin' to feel, like I've come on back home,
But I was a contender,
So spoofs I will render,
Of chosen productions that I can bang on.

Pacing away again in Guy DiRito-ville,
Searchin' for something good to assault,
So back I came, for some more of the same,
Now I know, I'm done poundin' salt.

Yes, on back I came, for some more of the same,
And I know, I'm done poundin' salt.

Guy, this parody ambles smoothly...I love it. Welcome back to the site.

Guy, I tend to discount Mr. Tong on the list. He doesn't join us here and has a whole different agenda. And I never had a chance of catching him or Malc. But you are arguably the reason I kept writing, though I didn't stand a chance of catching you until your break. But the quality of your work also improved mine greatly. You returning more than makes up for the missing votes.

Welcome back, "Uncle Guy"! We've missed ya, dude. Like Rick said, the quality of your work helped me improve mine, too. Especially your talent for writing parody words and parody lines that rhyme oh-so-closely to the corresponding words and lines of the original song. I hope you stick around and keep inspiring us. Thanks for coming back.

Guy Who?.......Just kidding, man...as the prison lifer said when he saw his former cell-mate being returned to his cell for a new confinement period, "It's good to see your back again"...I really missed you telling me how wrong I was politically...really...I found myself reduced to arguing and belittling 12-years olds for having immature political sensibilities. Well, I could go on, and as you may remember, I usually do...But I've got to head out to the Valley in a little while to meet some folks who are going to do some tasks around my Dad's house. OH...by the way...very fine return parody and I DO understand what you said about taking a break. I've been taking a lot more "mini-breaks" to keep myself and my work a bit fresher and I think it has helped. Hey, and with the timing of the "Vote-thenasia" horror you really do get to just about start over fresh...OH...one more thing. 5's, even though you spelled "notoriety" wrong up in your "Pre-Parody Comments" Section...

Thanks everyone - it's kind of nice to be back. I missed you all too. I'll be posting for a bit as I have a short supply of material done or in the works right now. I guess I posted and wrote way too many songs in the eleven months that I was posting on the site and I just really burned out doing it. It got to the point that it was beginning to become a chore just writing a parody a day. I can remember back in November I had days that I submitted eight parodies all written within a 24 hour period. I plan to keep it slow and easy in order to avoid the burn out. Again - thanks everyone for the welcome back.

Guy - Thought you'd like to know, it's like a war zone around this city. Cops everywhere, carrying machine guns, streets and building entrances sealed off.

Hey, I'm a liberal...!? Sorta. More like centrist, but still. :-p
