The Lyrics

Mudslide came my way today
Congealin' muck's advancin'
Carpet's brown a-where it once was white
Nature's cork's unflasking

Well architect's assured me I was fine
Canyon homes are the rage-in
Now bulldozer's gonna ruin my lawn
Scoot that ooze I'm-a sayin'

Couch, hutch, clothes dirt sploshed
With high grit
My walls will all be mossed
Decry it!
It cut through this house like a knife
It been jammed and filled with slime

Mudslide came my way today
Now pigs squeal in my mansion
Stunned, forlorn, got ninety tons of strife
In mud cakes now we're basking

Jerks, not smart, made a blunder there
Mut'al of Omaha's knowin'
All my fine stuff is sure caked in layers
The lava lamp ain't glowin'!

Foodstuff has been lost
Must diet!
Windchimes are earth embossed
It's quiet!
Me ranting unfairly at wife
Why'd those sandbags fail this time?

Mudslide!

Mudslide flowed 'n' crapped my life away
With pumice, my eyes are stingin'
Terra firma's come to blight us now
Soon welfare I'll be ringin'

Great job, you two!

"Let's check the forecast now...well, we've got a duststorm comin' up from the southwest, and rain droppin' down from Canada.....forecast for the heartland today is....mud! Mud showers expected off-and-on throughout the day.....with mud-flurries continuing on after midnight!"

Thanks everyone! And John, I looooved "Sunshine" when I was a kid, but I couldn't ask my parents to buy me the record, since it had the word 'damned' in it! Gasp! ;-D

Meriadoc, I'm dating myself, but I saw JE in concert--a while ago.

A very dirty parody---and mounds of funny. ;D

I like how you kept varying the chorus instead of repeating it. Also, I had the "damned" record as a youngster and you have followed all of the inflections that I used to try to copy when I sang along. Sorry about the mud, I mean it sounds really horrible..except hey! No windchimes!!

Wow Jango - your parents let you buy it? I had to wait till they were not home just to play the second half of American Pie, 'cus it said 'hell'! ;-D

Not Jonathan "E"? ;-)

John Barry, that's scary! ;-D

My parents were musicians. If nothing exploded, they didn't care what I did. But my dad really hated "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath". He still has a copy that he never listens to.
