The Lyrics

I can't remember when I didn't drink,
Or ever had a sober thought to think
I guess I sampled all the booze there is
Don't believe there's any kind I missed
Guess my fav'rite sound was to hear those glasses clink

Through The Beers, On many drunken nights,
I got in crazy fights, the cops read me the rights,
then took me in
ThroughThe Beers, kicked outa' clubs and bars,
Survived in crashin' cars, my body bears the scars,
Been through it all, Through The Beers

I can't remember all the bad I done,
In searching something that I thought was fun
My life became a downhill rolling ball,
Knew nothing, but I felt I knew it all,
And Through The Beers, I bore no shame
And walked on ev'ryone

Through The Beers, I ruined so many lives,
And two of them were wives, an alcoholic thrives,
On causing pain
Through The Beers, I never blamed the source,
Just stayed the shattered course, no showing of remorse,
For all the wrongs, Through The Beers

Through The Beers, I stumbled and I fell,
Wore out the wishing well, I'd quit, and go through Hell,
Then start again,
Through The Beers, I scraped the lowest lows,
Down where a loser goes, and never really knows,
Which way to turn, Through The Beers

Through The Beers, one day I saw the light,
And AA helped me fight, The meetings got me right
This path I'm on
Through The Tears, I climbed up off the ground,
So many friends I've found, my life is turned around
At last I'm free, and Through With Beers....

Don't know if this is autobiographical, AFW, but this is very effective at depicting pain.

Thanks John, Kristof....Not totally autobio...but have known people, as we probably all have, who would blueprint this...and I just tried to write it from their perspective.

Hi, AFW! This is a great parody of my song, but I recorded it in the 80s, not the 70s. But I like it, so I'm gonna vote 5,5,5 on it. Sorry I missed it last November.

Great lyrics. I can relate to this. Just to let you know, I have recorded several of your songs and truly enjoy the effort that goes into the lyrics you put out. Thank you.
