The Lyrics

Big wheels keep on turnin',
I do not know what town I'm in.
A long while back I turned to south, and
Folks say "¡Andale!" They're not Texan.
I also hear a "sin,"* ¡Si!

Street: home in with Onstar--
Signals from skies so blue.
Street: home in with Onstar.
Is that compass honed so true?

I feast misty eyes on the monitor,
Looking for the name of this town.
It seems the software can't "remember";
Meanwhile, signals are beamin' down.

Street: home in with Onstar--
Signals from skies so blue.
Sheet! This thing is FUBAR!
I'll ask--that's what I must do.

It's burnin' hot, and most folks slumber;
Can't get directions 'cause they snooze.
I'll have to wait until about 3:00
To get geographical news.

Siesta--folks languish;
Now they're ending their snooze.
I attempt in Spanglish
To find out which way to cruise.

My muscle car rolls to a restaurant;
Food is picante; so's the juice.
Ford, I like it here so much;
I find that I love the midday snooze--
Also the cheap booze.

My home's now Oaxaca;
The Pacific's so blue.
Drive from Cuernavaca,
Which means "horned creatures that moo."

Street: home in sin Onstar,
Find street, home easy,
A paper map will do
Here's home in Oaxaca.
I drive home, my aim is true,
And the monitor's gone to a landfill.

My brother-in-law was visiting once, and his rental car had some kind of OnStar or GPS gizmo in it. He programmed in my home address, and followed the gizmo's voice-promptings (a lovely female-electronic voice). What creeped me out was that just as we reached the end of my driveway, the electronic voice said, "You---have arrived." AAAAAAAIIIIIEEEEEEE !!!!!

I really like this, JB! There are so many references to stuff I know...from Spanglish to .....all the rest. I liked the definition of Cuernevaca, "horned creatures that moo." 5's

As someone who can get lost in a carpark, I totally relate! 555

Thanks, JD. I recently encountered one of these things in Germany, with a woman's voice speaking in crisply inflected Deutsch. Achtung! We got lost, because the person who programmed in the coordinates forgot to put in the street address. Thanks, Alvin, Adagio, Kristof.

I may be wrong but TOS doesn't have 5 choruses. The first 2 stanzas don't have a chorus inbetween them. Ignoring that though I still got caught up a bit on the stessing. 454.

That "stessing" was supposed to be typed "stressing" (of syllables).

Right you are, Red Ant. I was so focused on being misguided that I got in that state myself.
