The Lyrics

A tribute to Peter Falk, who died on June 23'rd. He was the gifted actor, who, so brilliantly played the detective in "Columbo", a hit tv show that began in 1971, and was revived again, in 1989 and ran periodically until 2003. In his later years, he suffered from Alzheimer's. It was sadly reported that he could not even recall playing Columbo.
Comes sad news Peter Falk has just died
Long, an icon from old TV
Also made it on the movie screen, wide
Back in the splendid Seventies?
That old Columbo show, in those detective days
Is there someone who don't know
His great catch phrase?..

Oh, and by the way, just one more thing
Oh, and by the way, just one more thing
He'd always say it invesTI-ga-ting
Oh, and by the way, just one more thing..

He wore an old rumpled tan raincoat
Drove a 59 French Peugeot
Carried a pad and a pen for notes
Would hesitate when time to go..
Sly as Sherlock Holmes, he'd gather all the clues
Ask before leavin'.."What did you pay for your shoes?"

Oh, and by the way, just one more thing
Oh, and by the way, just one more thing
His charac-ter, just like a bell, would ring
Oh, and by the way, just one more thing..

Oh, and by the way, just one more thing..

Oh, and by the way, just one more thing...

Fade...

I didn't much care for him back in the day when I was growing up, but always liked him in the German movie "Wings of Desire". 555!

I remember seeing an article in the newspaper about the producers of his show looking for another '59 Peugeot as a backup vehicle in case something went wrong with the primary car. Not many of those around, probably not even in France.

Just about everything he was in, he brought a great style. Even as the story-reading grandfather in Princess Bride, you couldn't ignore his character. Nice one.
