The Lyrics

...the "he" being pete townshend of the "who"...
in a circle, he will spiral
he will reel, till its unreal
strings a-bending with no ending
with a noisy crashing squeal
with a tension ever mounting
like a furious typhoon
he is loud as hell and spinning
one might take him for a loon

how he rocks...his hands are sweeping
at a manic sort of pace
on the stage he likes to ramble
hopping all around the place
while his guitar sharply whines
townshend windmills so sublime

lively fun is his endeavor
neatly spun, his overtones
in a large hall or a tavern
everywhere his hands have flown
with a roar, he keeps revolving
he's a feedback lover's dream
from a lad to geezer rebel
keeps the decibels extreme

how he rocks...his hands are sweeping
at a manic sort of pace
on the stage he likes to ramble
hopping all around the place
while his guitar sharply whines
townshend windmills so sublime

plays a solo like a rocket
it will jangle in your head
rapid notes he plays so briskly
loud enough to raise the dead
love to hear the whole band soaring
pete's the guitar playing man
dig the sound of keith moon's drumming
daltrey's voice as rough as sand
quiet johnny knows the best way
to add bass lines to the song
when you add them all together
its a unit very strong

when the concert's finally over
you are suddenly aware
that your ears are ringing loudly
but you find you just don't care
yes, the concert is long over
and you start to realize
normal hearing you just can't recall
when blasted by these guys

how he rocks...his hands are sweeping
at a manic sort of pace
on the stage he likes to ramble
hopping all around the place
while his guitar sharply whines
townshend windmills so sublime

Good one. I don't think he was the most technical or fluent player of his time but he put on a hell of a good show.

Aha, Pete Townsend, yes, familiar with them, not an easy topic here to work with, you managed quite well.

Ahhh...Michel Legrand if I recall. Always loved The Who.
Great job with the hypnotic swirling lyrics of the OS.

Clever match here. Pete's moves were unique and special. I never saw them but loved all their 60s classics. No slouch in the songwriting dept either.

Just attempted this OS myself, so thought I'd drop in. I wasn't disappointed.
