Story about this misheard lyric by: jpete I remember my mother used to watch reruns of this show on ABC daytime when I was just three years old. I never paid much attention to the show but I loved the theme song. When my mother and I both heard this song, we had the exact same mishearing of the words above. When I told her what the real words were many years later, she was slightly disappointed because she felt that the mishearing sounded better. |
"The Morning After"
Opening Lines: There's got to be a morning after If we can hold on through the night
Comments: "The Morning After" was a # 1 song in 1973. It was featured in the original version of "The Poiseidon Adventure". Although, McGovern had the #1 tune, she didn't get to sing it or even appear in the film. Instead Renee Amand sang the tune, while actress Carol Lynley lip-synched in front of the camera. Even at the Oscar ceremony, the next year, McGovern would be denied singing it.
