Song Parodies -> "If Not For U"

Original Song Title:

"If Not For You"

 (MP3)
Original Performer:

Olivia Newton-John

Parody Song Title:

"If Not For U"

Parody Written by:

Merry & Pippin

The Lyrics

Or, if you like, the Bob Dylan original, but we think it flows better with Olivia Neutron-Bomb's rendition. A low-bitrate mp3 of the song can be found here.
If not for ‘u’
Suave there wouldn’t be, but save galore
We wouldn't cruises have no more
Crises would ensue
If not for ‘u’

If not for ‘u’
Clods at night instead of clouds would reign
And clouts no bloody clots obtain
He replaces hue
If not for ‘u’

(If not for ‘u’
Those Brits would all
Like Yanks, ‘labor’ do
Without that vowel they’d be less colourful
But would spell correctly too)

If not for ‘u’
A spot there from spout would bring
We’d say ‘Martin Lther King’...
Why, it wouldn't really do
If not for ‘u’

If not for ‘u’
No Maudes be made
Duane’d be Dane it’s true
Without u housed would be hosed and be gone
No hot sauce if not for ‘u’

If not for ‘u’
Abounding a bonding bring
A shout could cause some shots to ring
No employment left for ‘q’...
If not for ‘u’
If not for ‘u’
Pippin distances himself from the assertion at the end of the third verse, and suggests the jury is permanently out on that one! :)

a more clever parody than this would be hard to imagine...it reminds me pf something that tom lehrer would come up with and i can offer no greater praise than that

"Q" before "U" except if you're Arab. Would then a stinged musical instrument on the Arabian peninsula be called a Qatar? I like U work and it's nice to see U tu writing again. The dynamic do-oh. Hilarious hoot here.

And why does the UK and all the English speaking nations which are all former colonies of Great Britain add that gratuitous "U" to words like color and honor and a whole host of others except for the United States? Are we just wierd here in the US or are they all just wrong?
McKludge - January 15, 2008 - Report this comment
It was backlash, Guy. All the colonists before our Revolutionary War would point at the Redcoats and say, "Hey, U, get out of our country!" :-)
