The Lyrics

THE NORTH SIDE OF THE POLE

1.A.
COMMIT RANDOM SOUND EFFECTS OF KINDNESS
(To "Speak to Me")

[Just a meaningless bunch of random sound effects.
But nice Christmasy ones.]

1.B.
WREATH ON THE DOOR
(To "Breathe in the Air")

Wreath
Wreath on the door
But what the hell's it for?
Leaves
(The) leaves scratch me
Curse and shout
Haul the holly out

(I) lose my mind Decembertime
(From) slushstorms and post office lines
(This) schizoid Christmaphobic fear
(It) comes around this time each year

Run
Rudolph run
Got a scope
(Up)on my gun
Just nailed Pran - cer and Blitz-unn
Bambi, Kobe, Britney, and that other one

(So) call me Scrooge or call me strange
(But) spare me from the gift exchange
('Cuz) last year everybody gave
(Me) discount Wal-Mart aftershave

1.C.
ON THE RAIN GUTTERS, DUMMY
(To "On the Run")

[Instrumental.
Go get some munchies.
But stay tuned.]

well! it made sense to me, but I absolutely love the OS (and "the making of...") - I was hoping you'd get to the (best) part where that woman starts screaming - 555

Heh heh, good one! I'm a fan of the DSotM album, and I can't wait to read the rest of your holiday-themed parodies of its songs. (Perhaps "Money" could be about how the holidays have become too commercial, and "Time" could be about how there's never enough time to shop, decorate, and make other assorted preparations?) I like your names for the reindeer, too.

Stuart: I was going to tell you watch for part 2, but I see that you already did.

Olvan: Nice suggestions, but I already had 'em done. "Time" went up this weekend, and "Money" should be up tomorrow.

Alvin: Think minds grate alike. One of my unfinished ideas for the Elves Gone Wild CD was a Floyd medley called, ahem, Pink Christmas. It never happened, and since most of the cuts were from DSotM, I decided to just do the whole damn thing.

Jackie: Thanks for your unfailing support.

Belated explanation: This is Part 1 of an entire-album parody of "The Dark Side of the Moon." All of the (completed) parts are linked from the bottom of this list:

Woo-woo! Nice job! I'm diggin' it! 555 (You know what, you could have added "Attentionn Wal-Mart shoppers" or something to the noise for "On The Run"...will you consider recording this somehow? It WOULD be quita an undertaking!)

Thanx, Aggro. Great idea for the "On the Run." Of course I'd love to see this recorded, but someone else would have to do it. I'm just a lowly lyricist. And I doubt that Robert Lund will take it on - I mentioned it to him on the phone a while back, and I could hear him rolling his eyes.

I finally found time to synch these parodies to the Dark Side album. I love this masterpiece so far. What album are you gonna do next? 5-5-5!

Thanks for going through the whole damn thing, CBTM. Next up is "Led Zeppelin: Complete Studio Recordings."

Great start to your album. Better than TOS.

Ant in Chains; Very big, very belated thanks for going through the whole thing. I doubt I'll ever tackle another entire-album parody, but this one was fun to do.
