Here are we, out on the deep and surging sea,
which some poets have named “the drink.”
It’s just a metaphor—nothing else.
I’ve never been a fan of such elusive tropes,
especially when the waves appear like ski slopes.

“Aid me!” words I will exude,
if we’re looking like shark food.
I will smile till I need such attitude.

Right now we’re right here veering on waves of brine.
That one looks like it could top the
ship’s bowline. Fortunately,
we elude the altitudes that have mown
down great ships and wrecked them before too long
(as I said, “fortunately”).

I don’t want to think about this on our way—
it doesn’t further the type of corps
that we know from Frenchie is “esprit”.
As I look forward, the bowsprit I can see,
and I notice it dips into the sea.
There’s a problem for you and me!

“M’aidez!” is what I exude.
Pardon my French attitude.
“Mayday” come from French…in English imbued.

“M’aidez” mean “Help me!” that’s true.
Use if you sink in deep blue.
English, French—at that time, all the same to you!
